Triglide trees

Hows about it? will triglide trees work as well as custom aftermarket trees? i have the 2011 Road Glide Ultra and triglide trees will bolt right up. the only drawback that I can see (besides labor cost) is the triglide trees are 4.5 degrees. They are cheaper, will not void my warranty, and should be a drop in replacement. whats not to like? Will the half degree be a big deal. Will I need to go to progressive springs up front? Any help will be appreciated as the steering is heavy, especially at low speeds.

Hi Lsquid, I will defer to other folks with direct experience, but there have been several discussions here re: successful installations of the triglide trees.

I'm also interested in the same question. I just mounted a Ranger sidecar to my 2010 ultra classic it drives and rides excellent. But I also have a 2010 Tri-glide, and it steers a lot easier, I actually thought about just switching the trees to try it out. I will be watching this thread.

I have a 2003 ElectraGlide Classic and installed the TriGlide triple trees on it about 2 years ago. I have logged over 10,000 miles with no ill effects. It steers a hell-of-alot easier.
You need to extend the forks 2" to keep the thing level.
I have sketchs on how to do it with spaces you can buy locally.
I sold my old triple tree on e-bay, so the cost was reasonable
Send me your e-mail address and I will send you the info.

I have an '04 Ultra Classic and have installed the TriGlide trees. I chose to not use extensions and then lowered the rear 1" with lower shock mount brackets. The steering effort is easier (not easy) but not scary or twitchy feeling, for me the lowered bike corners better and ground clearance hasn't been an issue. Hope this helps, Alan

After riding my '06 Road King/HD car with Champion EZ Steer trees, my neighbor mounted Tri Glide trees on his '02 Road King/HD car. He had to cut the fairing mounts off the Tri Glide trees and fabricate mounts for the Road King nacelle. He hasn't extended the forks but seems happy with the setup.

I had not considered the fairing mount problem. I have a Road Glide which is frame mounted so I think that I am exempt from mount problems. I can cut them off if required and not make anything new. I have not had the fairing off the new LSQUID but the old one seemed to be independent of the trees. Anyone running progressive springs in the forks? does it improve dive under hard braking. I do try to avoid hard braking situations but one never knows.

I just installed a set of LLM 5 degree trees on my 2002 FLHTC...I got them on ebay for $600...They came with fork exts and all hardware and instructions...
The fit was 110%...Everything bolted up perefectly..No modifications to anything...The quality of them was second to none...Nicely machined billet...Came wit lower brg and shield and all other hardware.....I did drill the 3 holes in the back for the steering dampner mount tho...I called the manufacturer and asked why he never put those holes in as they worked for the air baffle as well..He said nobody ever asked for them but me...
Anyhow, i installed the kit, added my dampner and went for a ride.....
WONDERFULL results....Bike handles like a dream, even no hands hwy capable...Tracks perfect , steers like a breeze...Best Modification i ever coulda done for my hack install...
Anyhow, just my view and expierinece for your FYI...

Did he let you ride his? or he yours? for comparison on the difference between the aftermarket trees and the triglide trees?

I haven't ridden his bike. I'll ask him how they compare.

There is little if any detectable difference in steering feel/effort between 4.5* TriGlide trees and 5* EZ Steer trees. <<>>

Do you need dampers? I don't with my Liberty trees.

I put a Champion triple tree on my softail with the fork extensions. Later I put a set of Progressive gas shocks/springs in the front end. I wasn't able to use the fork extenders with the Progressive springs in place. I don't remember why anymore. So far I haven't noticed any reason to try and put the extenders back in, bike rides much better!
