No,
I use a proprietary heavy duty swing-arm in my conversion. The OEM swing-arm is too flexible and the shock positioning doesn't allow for adequate leverage to support the heavier motorcycles.

We have done a few of Lonnie's type of conversions and they do well. One of them we put a fender skirt on the stock steel fender and it looked pretty cool. Newer Velorexes have glass fenders and some of the ones made when the steel fenders went out had plastic fenders. Have also converted some of the velorex chairs to 15" auto rims but that is more involved etc etc

Lonnie, can you give me a ballpark figure on the conversion (parts only, owner installed)?
Thanks,
Bob

Lonnie, do you have a photo of the conversion parts? What all is included? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere; I'm new to sidecars and this forum.

Here's how it looks with different wheel choices.

Thanks, Lonnie. If I understand it, the conversion kit includes heavier-duty swingarm, 1" (?) axle, and shock.
Does it also include the wheel and tire?

Conversion consists of redesigned heavy duty swingarm with 1" axle, high speed marine hub with Timken bearings and releveraged shock mounting.
We used to include the mounted wheel for $40. more, but now wheel/tire shipping almost costs as much as a wheel/tire combo does.

Yeah, I can understand that. I can't tell from the photos what size wheels those are. Will a standard 13" 5-bolt trailer wheel fit in there inside the fender?

I use 4" on 4 hubs now since most preferred them and the 5 lugs were overkill. A standard trailer wheel fits as shown in the pix. That's what we used to ship with the conversion. Some preferred their choice of wheel and could get it locally.
Like 12" wheels, 13" wheel/tire combos come in many diameters and widths and the offsets vary between mfg'rs.

Lonnie, I want one of the conversion kits. For some reason I'm having trouble with Paypal. If I can't resolve it I will send you a check, but I'd really like to have this in my hands asap for an upcoming trip. Are you able to process a credit card over the phone?

Lonnie, I was able to sort out the Paypal issue and a payment has been sent to you for a Velorex axle conversion kit.
To be clear, if I buy a standard off the shelf 12" trailer wheel/tire it will fit inside the Velorex fender?

Thanks,
Bob Herman
