Brian, if it's any consolation....I did have to replace one 20 amp fuse today, on my 2015 Honda Goldwing.

Other than that, it runs perfectly.

You've got quite the project going on!  🤩  Will be very interested to get your thoughts on the 37/11 re-gear.  I'm still debating that change.  Right now SYZ will do 70mph and still be below 4k rpms.  Which is really nice for long road trips, and fuel mileage.

I haven't started on this project yet.  Won't get started until late spring when things warm up.   Thankfully when the bike was originally built he installed the late model transmission, along with the aftermarket transmission support brackets.  I'm pretty sure he did a ceramic clutch disc (will know when the engine comes out).

I'll get into the garage and see if I can find those two connectors you mentioned today.  I'll try and get pictures for you.

EDIT: I misread. I though you already were into this engine-changing chore. It will be quite a job, but worth it, I think

@scott-h You've certainly got it apart. I think BMW start building these around the engine.

I've got mine apart as well. Needed a clutch, is getting a newer M97 transmission and a 37/11 final drive. I'm also deleting the ABS.

Old and new clutch assemblies. Clutch disc was below minimum spec at 4.2 mm.

Replaced rear main seal, clutch release bearing and clutch release rod as it was bent?

My M94 transmission sounded like it had a handful of loose bearings when coasting, and has randomly slipped out of third gear at times.

I've got it mostly back together now.

Those two connectors you asked about, on my bike are not connected to anything. They are tucked and zip tied together just behind the right side plastic seat mounting block and to the subframe

This bike has abs as well, so no idea what the connectors are for.

Hope this helps.

Scott, thank you so much!

I couldn't remember disconnecting them and was about to go nuts looking for something to plug them into. They don't seem to exist in the wiring diagram for this bike.

Those two connectors shall foever remain a mystery.

Good luck on the engine replacement, and if you ever need to compare anything to my bike, please ask!

My pleasure Sir!  Maybe they are used on a different sub-model R1100?  When I have the rig apart, if I remember, I might trace them down.  Would be cool if they can be used for something cool.  Like a potato launcher, margarita blender, Stroopwafel maker... 😎  Or something less useful like a heated seat.
