Seat belt?
How many of you have a seat belt in your hack?
When I got my used Vetter Terraplane sidecar it had a seat belt installed. Seems to be a factory item from looking at how well anchored the ends are. The Terraplane also has a very beefy roll bar, so the seat belt would be very functional and a good safety feature along with the roll bar.
However, my seat belt is so short it won't even buckle to itself, let alone around anybody sitting in the car. I am assuming it had an extension to be able to fit around a rider. Any Terraplane owners run into this situation?
How many of your sidecars out there have a seat belt? Personally, I wouldn't want to be belted in if the car doesn't have a roll bar or some other form of overhead protection.
Handy for small passengers to keep them from injury, or crawling out of the safe zone and grabbing a wheel or exhaust pipe.
Dog leashes can also be hooked to them.

GOOD points, Lonnie!
I bought my Velorex used and it had a seat belt in it. I use it to hold the kids carseat in and have put a "REDNECK HANS DEVICE" in it. Also I live in West Virginia and we actually have a seat belt law for sidecars.
I've had them for 30 years on all my different sidecars for carrying Son and now grandkids so they won't bounce there nose off of the windshield dash..
Hannigan offers one as an option - and I just installed it as I reworked the sidecar. Anchors to a seat mounting bolt on either side. I had the same question... if it was better or worse to be strapped in - but thought with the cockpit and subframe, probably better to be strapped in.
The Honda/Dauntless I recently purchased came with belts front and back for the car. My 15 year old and wife do not use them but I think they are a good idea for younger, inexperienced riders. I will require them with all my younger passengers.
Both of our cars have one in them and I use one most of the time when I ride in them. Sometimes I ride without it, nice to have the choice.
I have it in all my sidecars but the -48 Indian... if my wife fell asleep I am more comfortable if she is attached. On the Ural, in the dirt, she, of course, takes it off!!
Hadn't thought about the passenger falling asleep. My daughter has done that a number of times on the way home from school. May start requiring it more often
