saw the Yamaha raider and noticed the raked trees asked about handling problems the cycle world article exert below seems to say none. Then why does ever one say not to ride without the sidecar with raked trees? What am I missing? Is it the 21 on the front?
I put a set of Hawg halters 6 degree trees on my '07 heritage they say for use with 21" or 23" wheel or sidecar trike with stock 16. How does the taller wheel effect the trail.
Raider. By all counts, the Star is a terrific cruiser for backroad runs, and even with its lazy 39 degrees of total rake (33 degrees at the head plus a 6-degree yoke angle) and 18-inch, 210-series rear and 21-inch front, testers used words like “nimble,” “stable,” “well-behaved” to describe the Raider’s cornering manners. Best of all, there’s ample cornering clearance, allowing you to really lay it in, and plush-for-the-class suspension (5.1 inches up front, and 3.5 out back) to iron out irregularities.

The difference in ease of handling and steering qualities between solo and hacked bikes are determined by trail, not rake. Like apples and oranges, are two different things.

The neck on the yamaha is 33" and the trees are 6" I am not sure about the neck on the Heratige maybe 29" the trees I put on are 6" also. My question is why is one bike is sold for solo (no sidecar needed) and the other with same basic configuration close to the same reduction in trail is unsafe.?
I'm going out and check the trail on my bike tomorrow the yamaha bet there is an inch difference.
