Question about Harley frame strength
Still working on finding a guy to attach the sidecar. Have a fabricater looking at attaching a Tomco sidecar to my Harley and he is a little concerned about the frame strength near the footpeg. He said Harely added a piece of metal to the dyna model down there because the frame was cracking and he is concerned about having to maybe weld a cross member or do some frame modification to the bike so it can safely support the sidecar. I am not concerned much about voiding the warranty it is only 2 years anyway but just hoping the 4 other brackets will be able to take enough of the load off so there is not a risk of the frame breaking down. Is that wishful thinking and should I be looking at making some frame modifications when mounting the Tomco?
The Dyna footpeg bracket is already mounted to a crossmember that is welded to the frame. I've used that position many times for sidecar mounting (my own and clients rigs) with no adverse feedback.
Unless he's referring to the buddy peg bracket that is attached to the swing-arm and would be a poor choice for a sidecar mount.

Was looking through a website and a company has 4 sidecar mounting brackets that will bolt directly to the Dyna frame with 0 modifiation. Hoping 4 is enough if I attach directly to frame but the sidecar is easy to modify
Google Motorvation Engineering and call them.
I did contact Motorvation yesterday what a nice place. Spoke with a tech who had attached some sidecars onto the new Dyna frame and he was talking about building a little subframe that is mounted with 2 U bolts near the starter motor back by the swing arm. Anyone else done this? The tech faxed me a drawing but I could not quite make sense of it. As far as the upper mounts for the frame though Motorvation has just what I need.

You probably spoke to Gary. Call back and have him go over the drawing with you.
Placing the mount below the rear part of the frame seems quite close to the road.
Higher mounting has worked for me using a sub-frame bracket mounted beneath the seat for the upper strut position (as shown).

Thank you Claude I plan on calling Gary tomorrow and trying to get a clearer picture.
And Lonnie that was a great photo. My Tomco sidecar and Hondamatic are much closer together, approx 8 inches, than the ones in your photo. Maybe can move them further apart and then move the mounts up and avoid the Dyna exhaust and point the clevis down to the side car like in your photo. Have any more pictures of a sidecar and Dyna?
