Hi everyone, can anyone tell me where is best to install sidecar mounts on a 2000 Yamaha V Star 1100 I am looking at it and I am not sure where to install the rear upper arm bracket on the bike without it being in the way of the rear foot peg.

Can anyone send me some picture of how and where you installed it ?

Thanks for your help !

I can not recommend a Velorex on a bike as large and heavy as your bike, The Velorex really was designed for much smaller bikes. While we do make a mounting kit for your bike we will not sell it for this application. Should you go with a stronger sidecar we will be glad to help. I have attached a photo of what our mounts look like.

What about if I beef it up with some weight and a heavy duty suspension ? I see lots of 1100 cc on the net with Velorex 562 is that what they did ?

I am new to sidecars and want to do it right, but on the other hand, the guy I bought it from, had it on a Harley Fat Boy for several years and it seems that it worked just fine. so I am kinda puzzled !

If somebody else did what You head for doesn't mean it is a good idea or safe. My friend the Jawa importer installed the 562 maximum to a HD 850 Sportster. and the 700 to a 1000ccm Vulkan (or Shadow?).
I own that same sidecar on its original Jawa 350 (actually I am changing to a 450 Husquarna engine). For me the upper limit for this sidecar is probably 650 or 700ccm, specially the version with only a 15mm axle.
Myself I did pull back my intention to mount the Velorex 562 onto the KLR650 as soon I saw that the relationship doesn't fit. (And after holding the back frame in my hand because 2 of 4 screws fell out somewhere in the middle of nowhere)

Take the word of Jay as it is. I often have denied jobs to clients when I saw that they wanted a Mickey Mouse job or were about to put their employees or somebody else into danger. Same case here. Keep harmony and stay safe.
Safety first.

I agree with Jay. However, we have done older velorexses on larger bikes but when doing so we plated the frame with 1/8" steel welded in , changed the mounts, went to a 1" or 1 1/4" spindle, changed the wheel and tire and went to another shock with a modified shock tower. If going to a 15" auto wheel we changed the fender. A 12" trailer wheel will work with the stock fender though. Worth the effort and expense? Hard to say.
