Thanks so much Claude. That is what I think I've been looking for. Those pieces look to be about 2" long? About 1 1/4" shaft? I'll start on some later this week:o)
My buddy with the bender is going to bend another hoop. I think welded on the opposite side and a tube right above the back one, will stiffen things up a bit. (that's what she said) It will also give me a better place for the upper mount.
Now, Where did that shaft go?
We prefer the eyenut and clevis but two eye nuts will work okay. I am still concewrned about side to side flex in your frame..time will tell I suppose.
I'm going to make them like in the picture with the clevis and eye. I still have the space frame pieces and gussets to add. That will stiffen it up a bunch:o)
Thanks, Wes

Cool...We are all looking forward to pictures 🙂
I made some more progress today. My buddy bent up another hoop for me. I trimmmed and tacked it on to the frame. I found some decorative iron last week and am thinking about using it for the space frame idea. Here it is in place. When I weld it I'd have an upright piece of 1/2" round every 5" or so. How does that sound?
I'm going to try and make the eye's and clevis' tomorrow. For the rear mount I'm thinking of welding a tube with threaded insert here. I think this looks OK?
Just a thought:
see attached
I could do that accept where the hoops are welded now and on the center cross section. The springs fit in the middle of the hoops that are welded on there now. There isn't much clearance above the center cross section and the body would hit. But the rest of the way around would work. I'll have to round up some more tube though.
Thanks, Wes
I know that I'm the only one who feels this way but while your current frame is doubtless strong, it doesn't have any defense against "racking". What would it hurt to put in one or two diagonal braces? You certainly have the skill.
I've really enjoyed following your progress.
Like Al sez, Ladder frames don't have much defense against racking.
IMHO: Diagonal bracing is better than a bunch of small gussets.

I will now sleep better.
Well' I didn't get as much done today as hoped. These little suckers are kind of time consuming to make. But they are ready to mount to the bike:o) They will be cleaned up and painted. These would look killer nickle plated. Maybe next winter?
I 'll try and get the upper rear mount installed tomorrow.
I didn't get anything done today. I think I'm trying to get a cold or something. So, I just took it easy.
I think I'm going to have to fab up a bracket that will weld to the inside hoop. This will let me bolt the top mount there. The problem is it can't hang down under the hoop because of the suspension. So It'll have to hang out:o) I'm planing on something that wraps partially around the tube to give me plenty of purchase when it's welded. Maybe tomorrow?
I still need to come up for something for the springs to mount to. I have the old brackets, but they are kind of ugly.
Getting closer:o)
where are you Wes missing my daily fix
Sorry, I've been sick since last week. Probably have the Swine flu. LOL I'm taking it easy as I still have a cough I can't seem to shake. I haven't done anything accept nap and watch TV. I almost went out today. But, I would have cought it from my wife. Pick your battles, Right.
I have the rear mount nearly done. I need to mount it and then there is a bunch of welding. A lot of the stuff is tacked on or only welded on top. I'll have to finish all the welding. Then back to the body. It is almost ready for the skin. I have to make the seats and a couple more gussets and ribs. It's getting closer:o)
Thanks, Wes
