My friend has a 2002 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, and he is contemplating adding a Harley sidecar to it. One of his concerns is the reduction in mileage he will experience in tire wear. Can those of you who have a similar Harley rig, please tell me:

1. What kind of mileage reduction he can expect after adding the sidecar, if he continues to run the stock motorcycle tires on the front and rear?

2. What kind of mileage can he expect from the sidecar tire, if he runs the stock tire that Harley provides with the sidecar?

3. What other front tire/rim options are available to provide better mileage results?

4. What other rear tire/rim options are available to provide better mileage results?

5. What other sidecar tire/rim options are available to provide better mileage results?

He would also appreciate your opinions on the necessity of modifying the fork rake to provide easier steering?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Bruce

1- About a 1/3rd drop in gas mileage.
2- Maybe 8K (tire mileage) sidecar and rear tire.
3- 5.00x16" auto tire.
4- 5.00 or 5.50 x 16" auto tire.
5- 5.00 X 16" auto tire.
6- Raked trees are like power steering and he can dump the steering damper.
