Guzzi T-3 Velorex 700 a good combination?
I posted earlier that I have an opportunity to purchase a 77 Moto Guzzi with a Velorex 700 sidecar.
Is this a good match?
Hopefully I can post a picture or two as I'm also unsure of the quality of the mounts?
Many people will say it is a good match, I prefer the Velorex on a smaller lighter bike, what you can get away with depends on many things, your experience, how heavy you are, how wide the sidecar is mounted and how much ballast you have in the sidecar. I have a Velorex on a Moto Guzzi Ambassador that I purchased just to get the craven luggage, I found as it was mounted very narrow that even with 50 lbs of ballast it was possible to fly the chair pretty much any time including LEFT hand turns. Of course every right hand turn it wanted to come up. Mounted wider with more ballast this might have been an "OK" rig but the way it was when I purchased it, I felt it was any thing but safe.

I agree with Jay, pretty light indeed. Not only weight wise but also suspension wise etc,. Can it be made to work? Yes it can but not without some modifications especially if it it an older one. If it has the small axle it is not wise to beef up the suspension to 'make it handle better' as then more stress is put on the small axle.
I've always beefed up the early Velorex (15mm) suspension using a proprietary heavy duty swingarm with a 1" axle.

Yes Lonnie that is the way to go for sure. We have used most of the stock swingarm although we do modify the shock tower to add a different shock. Note that many older Velorex sidecars do not have th eshock tower 90 degreees to the frame,..easy fix while messing with this stuff anyhow. Hey Lonnie email me your address we have apresent for ya/
