I'll certainly check on this when I'm back home (next week). Does it tell you anything if the plate on the sidecar says that it was made in 2003?

And by the way, which is more correct, "sidecar" or "side car"?

2003 is still 15mm axle but take a look anyway.
Sidecar works!

I'd really consider an upgrade with the Guzzi. The early suspension will wallow in the turns and bottom out with heavier bikes. Yours is a heavy bike for the early Jawa/Velorexs.

Lonnie: Just what do you mean by "an upgrade with the Guzzi"? Do you mean changing out the 15 mm axle for a 20 mm axle? Is that possible? Or are you talking about an entirely different sidecar? I don't want to wind up with an unsafe result with this rig, but I'm not looking to spend a ton of money, either. Your suggestions (and everyone else's) are appreciated.

My Guzzi Eldorado is about the same wt as your EV.
Also have a Jawa/Velorex 560 sidecar which has a 15mm axle.
I've had a steel plate welded inside the frame for ballast and strength.
I also carry a 45# sandbag at times. Especially important for new riders.
Haven't heard of anyone breaking a 15mm axle but over the years I've
straightened mine a few times. Recently bought a new 15mm axle from Lonnie.
I've put on over 5,000 wonderful miles on my rig and I love it.
Ride safe, get expert advice, enjoy.
Howard
