clap  The 2024 Fall Sidecar Muster for the Ark-La-Okie-Tex area is scheduled for October 11-13 at:

Lake O’ Pines RV Park, Marina & Inn at 16851 Hwy 155 North of Ore City, Texas, on the Northwest side of Lake of the Pines with 15 lodging units plus RV/camping spots.  Please make your own lodging/camping reservations by phone 903-968-3183, or email fun@lakeopinesrv.com, or online https://lakeopinesrvpark.com/

Alternative lodging options include: Old Camp Joy 2 miles South https://oldcampjoy.com/ , Bull Frog Marina 12 miles Southeast https://bullfrog-marina.com/ and Scenic View Motel 9 miles North https://scenicviewmarina.com/

Plans include a ±24 mile Saturday morning ride to the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum in Pittsburg, Texas, to see, among other things, the Ezekiel Airship (well, a replica), that the reportedly achieved flight before the Wright brothers.

The RV Park & Inn is across the lake from Buzzard Roost Mountain, and our Saturday ride should pass Couch Mountain & Wilkes Mountain.**

We'll post a more definitive schedule once the plans are finalized.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information in the meantime.

** Keep in mind, these are East Texas "mountains" lol8

How about New Mexico?  It’s just a short trip across Texas.

Now I'm not so sure about the "short" trip across Texas, but, of course, folks from New Mexico, and other states beyond Ark-La-Okie-Tex, are certainly invited and welcome.

The location is kinda sorta near the corner of the four mentioned states.  basic_smile

Wish I had known the dates before we bought our plane tickets.  Sorry to miss seeing all our friends and fellow riders in TX-LA-OK-AR.

I have all the games equipment from previous years if you need it.

Sorry for the scheduling conflict, Jan.  And thanks for the offer on the game equipment -- we should have a enough bouncy balls, squeaky toys and other stuff to make up a couple of games.

The unreliable long-range forecast is favorable -- mostly sunny skies with temps 60°F to 87°F.

We're working on a head-count for the MIMS VFD. clap

Please let us know if you plan to join us.

Friday Lunch:

file

A fried baloney sandwich on cornbread** is too tasty to pass up, so all are invited to meet-up with Jena & I for lunch at Kitt's Kornbread Sandwich & Pie Bar at 125 N. Polk Street in downtown Jefferson, 'bout noonish on Friday October 11th, 2024.

** Or one of Kitt's other fine delicacies:  https://www.kittskornbreadsandwich.com/

Hey, this is Lee the SwampFox from Louisiana.  I made to two foregoing posted before I realized the 'puter changed my identity. 🙄

Sorry bout that Steve. 🤔

By the way, the SwampFox handle goes back to my childhood CB radio days when we lived in the Harrison/Marion County Texas area.  My brother adopted the CB handle Desert Fox and assigned by Dad the handle Papa Fox.  Well, I concluded I too needed a handle and, after reading about Francis Marion, the namesake of Marion County, Texas, I adopted the handle of SwampFox.

By the way 2:  Jefferson is the county seat of Marion County.

I thought that the responses didn't "sound" like Steve.   Not sure I could go with the fried bologna, though!

Ummmmmm, more like a fried "oyster" sandwich.  Both of these options would send lesser humans running for cover whilst clutching pearls.

Down here in the Deep South, if it's fried -- we eat it.  When in school at the Bayou Academy of Law and Agriculture down in Baton Rouge +30 years ago, I'd save up my  nickels  quarters during the week for a Friday treat, often a fried catfish poboy or fried oyster [gulf, not mountain 🙂] poboy. Often enhanced with a few dashes of Panola Hot Sauce.

Pepperdoux

And the last time I had an opportunity to explore the USFS roads in the Ouachita Mountains, the fellow that runs the store in Norman, Arkansas, cut a thick slice of baloney --you know, from the bulk roll with the rind on it-- and fried it up for me. Good eats! clap
