Good way to spend a spring day.
Lots of nice rigs too.

The Sidecars are not on the Right side. 🙂
I rode down to Long Island, NY for a gala celebration, over 100 miles each way. Roads in the northeast are not in great shape, Palisades Parkway has its moments, many potholes. The Throgs Neck Bridge connecting The Bronx to Queens is finally in good shape. I avoided the Long Island Expressway and took Northern Blvd. instead to my destination. The Valkyrie is a smooth machine. It was a good choice to use it with the sidecar rather than my VTXR. I'm glad I installed a steering damper as there are no shakes. I'm getting used to turning at slow speed, its like riding and exercising simultaneously.
Did 320 miles on the road with my -15 Ural GU to go camping in the Mendocino forest and then another 110 miles of fire roads /trails, utterly lost and even using the 2 WD when stuck. The FI did not miss a beat, the Duros were OK in the dirt and for water crossing, it is more stable than the -11 GU I had before (which does not make sense!). I am so tired...

My rig has been on the lift for the past few weeks while I replaced a blown head gasket. Well, she's finally at a point that the car is ready to be remounted.
As the car is also in desperate need of a realignment, I took the tub off the frame and built this dolly. Now the frame can be moved about like it is a air hockey puck! I took pains to build the box high enough to hold the frame level in relation to the wheel and unloaded suspension. This should allow me to get a rough tow-in done without having to wrestle with 200 pounds of sidecar by myself!
Harbor Freight has small moving dollies for cheap, sometimes under 10 bucks.
I used to make and sell steel ones for $99. each. I used 9 of them in the shop for years then found the cheapies from Harbor Freight with 4 rotating casters. The steel tubing costs more than they do. So do just 4 casters.

I hear ya Lonnie, in fact the box I built sits on top one of those HF dollies.
What did I do with my sidecar today. I got it out of the storage unit. The last trip We took with it was the Devils Tower Run that was featured on the front cover of the SIDECARIST. Shortly after that we moved out of our motor home and into our new downsized home with a normal sized 2 car garage and the rig went into storage for the winter. Then we spent the winter in Arizona. Then upon our return I have been building a work space in the garage. Bench, Cabinets and shelves. It is now time to begin moving out of storage into the garage, The first thing will be the rig. It gets a safety once over, a wash job and its expired KS plate replaced with current SD plates. The next trick with be to arrange the garage so that the rig, a Blazer and a Malibu fit with the door down. The first attempt was to put the front wheel and nose of the car under the bench, and bring the Blazer in. With the Blazer 2 inches frome the rig the Blazer is 4 inches from closing the door. The faring is against the bench but the wheel is still 10 inches from the wall. Doris suggested that I build a convertible bench with section that can be lifted out. You know that would work but not today's solution. Okay let's move to the other corner of the garage where we can get the front of the rig up against the wall. Now with the Malibu pushing against the mud flap of the bike the door lacks 1 inch of closing. The Malibu is Doris's driver. Even if this arrangement worked asking her to park with this kind of precision is out of the question. The Blazer is about a foot shorter then the Malibu, so if we switch sides of the garage we can get the door down. Switching sides of the garage is a little like switching sides of the bed. It will take some adjustment. The disadvantage of this arrangement is that the rig is a little in the walkway. The advantage is that I still have a 3X8 floor space in front of my bench.
I will try to get more then on picture per post
It still didn't work and completely Bumfuzzeled Chrome The next is the middle picture.
The obvious answers are: Park one rig outside, or pull the "Old switcheroo" with Mum.
Somebody will whack the rig sooner or later otherwise.
Lonnie
Nothing sits out if I can help it. We live in HAIL ALLEY. Yes we will pull the switheroo (trading sides of the bed) If the rig gets wacked it will be me that does it. There is a 2 wheeler in storage yet to come . Already! If I need any thing out of the garage something will need to be moved.
Rode from Nashville, TN, to Springfield, IL, for the flat races. Part Interstate and part backroads - great trip!
Attended the Springfield Mile yesterday and rode from Springfield to Nashville, TN, today.
Believe it or not, NO RAIN! With all the foul weather around, I never had to get out my rain gear - seemed like it had rained everywhere I rode, but it was never raining while I was riding.
Great racing, and great trip! 🙂
