Posted by: @noneI did remove the damper from one end and tied it up. it works better without one as Jon suggested; my hands now feel balanced equally on the bars rather than the right needing a bit more effort to hold steady. There is just a little bit of very low speed (5mph or so) wobble that i am not going to worry about
That wobble would bug me especially after spending all that money. So I'm going to ask the group if you don't mind. Is that wobble from his sidecar set up? Or is that something you get when you go with triple tree's, or, um, a leading link?

Do what you like a new damper would fix it easily but personally i am good with the balance in my hands which i consider accurate and not one sided. A two or three second wobble is nothing

A well deserved break from the action is a cool idea.
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

Interesting footnote; i was playing around with the position of my handlebars and backrest and i realized that the cables etc on the handlebars now have more play in them thanks to the change in the angle. I i have a short set of risers coming Friday and IF they fit it will be a nice bonus. Its a vine review item for a BMW so it may not fit but it will allow me to see if there is room enough. Reversed the backrest fittings so i am sat a little further forward/more upright.

Getting your riding position just right is a very satisfying thing to do.
Not always easy but so worth it.

Most guys on the Goldwing forum recommend your forearms level with the ground.

@sidecarusa The risers i just got are for a BMW1300GS with angled handlebar slots so they do not fit. When you say older BMWs were you thinking of any particular model?

If anyone had asked me, I would have suggested......to buy ROX handlebar risers from Amazon.
Just make sure that you actually measure your handlebars, for the width of the bars, at the location where they are actually clamped on at...meaning, are they 7/8ths inch, or 1 inch, etc. Whilst I can assume what they are, the handlebars on a Goldwing 1500 are actually thicker size pipe where they are clamped down at, than they are at the grip end.
There are a lot of cheaper imitations of these ROX brand handlebar risers, but...in the end, it is best to buy the ROX brand. The great thing about these, is that you can raise the bar, and pull back at the same time, and I suggest the 2" risers, so it may end up when all is said and done that you have actually raised your bars 1.5", and pulled the grips back 1".

+1 on Rox brand. Getting bars raised and moved back is frequently a benefit and that's where Rox shine!

Steve, I have no doubt that you are already aware....being the most intelligent hominid in the Buffalo, Kansas area...that once you install handlebar risers onto your Goldwing 1500, you will not be able to reinstall the ignition switch cover plate.
I know it was Calvin, Caretaker of Sidecar Willie, that was asking questions about that same ignition switch cover plate, as he needs to change his, but....with handlebar risers in place...no room to reinstall the ignition switch cover plate on your bike. Maybe you could cut a section out of the ignition switch cover plate, so that it again covers the ignition switch, and covers the area aft of the handlebars.

i can cut a piece of plastic if i need to, one step at a time. It all depends what i can get into place without messing with cable lengths. My supervisor Mr Sam will be sat in the sidecar watching between naps so he will put me right!

I have a feeling that Mr. Sam could use a slide ruler if he could just stop saying "hello" to everyone so many times!
