sidecar is home
well last night i got my wrecked harley sidecar back a month after the wreck .the adjuster had quit leaving all his paper work sitting in a pile .so my bike sat in an an impound at the towing company for a month running up charges.the guy at the impound kept it inside so it wouldnt get rusted.[very nice guy] . so when the insurance figured out that they dropped the ball they started giving him a hard time about his bill .i was calling almost every day saying whats going on .but that is finialy taken care of .but i walked away from an accident that could have killed or maimed me.i am getting a very nice harley with a sidecar hopefully in the next couple days . so in the grand scheme of life and the universe i am doing good

most important. You are able to tell the story.
Material doesn't matter.
Keep your head up.

my orthopedic surgeon will get a kick out of this . .on the day of the accident was the one year mark for the first hip replacement [ the other one 10 months ago ] so all the screws and titanium stayed where it was suppose to .
right now i am moving every thing around in my garage. have to have room for 2 harleys with sidecars and my desoto .its going to be very very crowded .
Good your OK!

Another oldtimer fan? Wellcome in the club.
Which one? the survivers / oldie fans / or bionic guys. Well in the last one was my father I luckily didn't have the need yet.

i will try to post pictures .it doesnt look too bad
minor damage to the back of the sidecar
now that i got it in front of me it doesnt look too bad.but regardless it will get sold because i bought another one. when i got the print out it sounded like it had been really badly damaged .but i dont know if the frame is racked.i got the estimate before i got the bike back.
guess i will sawzall off the crash bar and take it out in the neighborhood for a ride to see how it feels .they listed a new frame on the estimate.

.they listed a new frame on the estimate.
I think they do that almost all the time just to cover themselves. I've seen many bikes totaled by the Ins Co's and the frames are fine. One give away on the newer ones is the powder coat will show stess or cracking by the neck or down tubes.
My cousin Had a Kawasaki and he layed it down, the steering stop broke off, so they totaled the bike ??
Good luck with it
The shop estimators will call for a new frame if the paint has been damaged, since a new one comes with a new unmarked finish.
If the bike track is awry and can't be brought in alignment with a rear axle adjustment it could be due to the frame, swing-arm or front fork tubes being damaged.
This looks like minor damage, mostly cosmetic.

Is the frame bent? if not it does not look all that bad. Are you going to fix it or sell it?
Trouble with the damn insurance companies in Georgia does not have to be much damage and they totally it. So all I have is liability as what ever happens to it I can fix it ever if it takes a while. The say my 02 with out the hack is only worth 8K so not worth taking a chance on loosing it as I would NEVER be able to replace it.
i had an extra $5000 accessory insurance [sidecars are accessory ] .that made a big difference in what i got. i had full coverage with 10 grand medical .i put 8 grand worth of accessory insurance on the new bike to cover the sidecar. i am planning on selling it .
