Really pleased with the operation of the outfit. Still in a steep learning curve and taking those rt turns cautiously. Claude assures me that things will improve with practice. My thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement!! Yes "WVSporty", I did wave when I was going through W.Va.on 81! Here are some pictures of the rig.

Great looking rig Chuck. I checked out the pictures on Freedom Sidecars facebook page already. Love the trailer also , that would come in handy for my rig since I lowered it.

Looks great Chuck! And we've got great weather forecast for the week and weekend. Been working my way through the exercises in "Driving A Sidecar Outfit ", referred to as the "Yellow Book". It was an early Christmas present from my wife. I've made a few trips for groceries with the outfit, and found I have to plan another 15 minutes to get out of the parking lot.
What are you running for tires on your bike? Did you modify the front end? Hey, the sun is out, it's over 50 out there, I'm going riding!

Thanks all! Hey Tourist, still running the OEM tires. Will make a decision about "dark siding it" when we get back from Florida. Didn't have the Front End modified. So far it's not been a major issue, although hard left turns take some muscle. Have all of 135 mi. on it and really enjoying it. Have only had one person comment on it. Everyone else just looks and nods! I just got back from a ride to do some errands and have to remember that it is over there when I exit parking lots with curbs Where did you get the "yellow book"? Claude gave me some exercises to do and I have been diligently trying to follow his instructions. Maybe we can still get up for a ride before the spring rally! Ride safe my friends!

Chuck, the "Yellow Book " can be purchased from White Horse Press. It is "Driving A Sidecar Outfit ", 2nd Edition, Sidecar Safety Program, Inc., Copyright 2008. Really thorough and well illustrated. Assuming you have brakes on the car wheel, is it activated with your hand brake, or your foot brake? Mine is linked through my hand brake. This way, when I pull brake, I'm getting brake action on all three wheels. Really looking forward to the weekend, sunny with temps near 70. Perhaps I'll take her up to the Blue Ridge Parkway on Saturday. Ride Safe, and yes, we'll see about getting together before April.

Thanks for the info on the yellow book. I will try to order it before we go to Fla. next week. Planning to ride to Raleigh on Fri. to get some seat time and more practice. Plan to ride 421 as far as I can before getting on 40. Good luck with the Blue Ridge! I'm jealous. That's got to be the ultimate practice course. Are you running wth any ballast? If so, how much? Ride safe and post some pictures.

Chuck, I think you'll find the book well worth it. Friday should be great weather. One of the F6Riders at our weekly Wednesday Breakfast saw the photos of your outfit on an F6 Forum he frequents. He said it looks good. I believe my outfit is probably a bit heavier than yours, but during the "novice" stage, and not wanting any surprises, I do carry about 35 lbs of gravel in a bag in the trunk. Later, when I want to lift the car, I'm going to be takeing it out. Is your Wife riding her trike down to Florida? Certainly hope you have good weather for that trip. Ride Safe, my friend.

Thanks, enjoy the ride! You're probably right on the weight! Also, I will probably cut my ballast back a bit. Right now I'm running 100lbs. of sand. i plan to ride the rig to Fla. My wife usually drives our small motorhome and we trailer her trike. Once we're there the bike and trike are our only transportation . Been doing that a long time. I just pray for moderate weather so that I don't freeze. Last year was really cold coming home. Ride safe on the blue ridge!! Let me know how it goes.

Chuck, It was so beautiful today I couldn't resist. Went up to the Blue Ridge Parkway for the first time with my rig. The uphill switchbacks on Squirrel Spur going up to the Parkway were challenging and the Parkway itself was a delight. My Wife on her Goldwing Trike and I on my outfit stopped for lunch in Meadows of Dan, VA. Had a great ride back down the mountain through Fancy Gap. Great Day!

Wow, sounds like you guys had a great ride. How were the leaves this time of year? My wife loves the fall change of colors. Riding today to do the Shallote toy ride with CMA. Should be a lot of fun. Great crowd and great cause! Ride safe! Then off to Florida end of next week to spend Christmas camping near Disney!

Chuck, I'm sure you will have a great Toy Ride. I try to do one each year. Today I rode with the Patriot Guard to the Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury for Wreaths Across America, placing wreaths on grave sites. Foggy start this morning, but it cleared up nicely. The leafs are all down up on the Parkway, but that in itself lends a certain beauty. Have a safe trip south.
