Finally got my sidecar rig last week! 1999 Nomad and I think it's a Velorex car, but could use some help with the ID. Anyone know for sure what this is? 🙂

It looks more like a Jupiter than a velorex. Bigger wheel and what looks like a lift up nose.

I don't know about the numbers, but it sure is snazzy all painted up to match.

I think it would be stamped into the frame of the sidecar. As a Sputnik or a Jupiter, they seem to be related, it is better built than a Velorex.

It is a Sputnik sidecar, we were the importer for a while on these. The serial number is on the fender mount just behind the step. The last two numbers are the year of production. We have a very limited supply of replacement parts as we have not been able to get more in 14 years so we are down to not much more then brake parts. Windshields can be purchased at www.bikescreen.com
Jupiters are older sidecars that look similar, on a Jupiter the trunk does not open and the front slides forward while on the Sputnik both the front and rear are hinged to open. Sputniks sit higher the Jupiter sidecars.
We may have built your bike, I do not remember it as we have done thousands of sidecars and imported hundreds of the Sputnik sidecars.

Thanks all for the input. I'm having a ball with it no matter what it is! I am a little concerned when it comes to parts tho. I guess I'll be more concerned if I actually need any. 🙂

Looks great! Color match and design are spot on. I would not worry too much about parts. With a little help from a machinist most anything can be produced or changed. Have changed wheels, brakes, mounts, etc. Sometimes a little trial and error, but it can be done. Best of luck!

Be sure to check with a Kawasaki dealer to find out if the oil pump gear has been replaced. That year, and earlier, I think, had a problem with the gear breaking. There is a kawasaki forum website that has information about this. Otherwise, nice looking rig, and very dependable. I know, I had two, and now a Vulcan classic 2000LT

Very good advice! The '99 Vulcan came with a plastic oil pump gear that was prone to failure, while the '99 Drifter for some unknown reason came with the metal gear. From '00 onwards all Vulcans had the metal gear.
