Download a couple of the free books on the subject that are available here on this site for starters and do some reading.

if ur familiar with piloting an aircraft, add YAW to your motorcycling experiance. A sidecar will push on decel and drag on excel. that is in addition to switching from counter steering to direct steering.

A sidecar is a whole differant animal fom any other mode of transportation. But once you master it, you will enjoy it like none other!!

Perhaps you could find a sidecar training class in your area that has rigs available for the class. Makes for a good introduction. For instance: Marcus at the Pineywoods Motorcycle Academy in Lufkin, Texas has a couple of rigs available.

I would start by taking a sidecar class if you can. You can go to www.esc.org to see if there is a class near you.
When it comes to buy a sidecar rig, you can either buy one some one has already put together in which case I recomend unless is was built using bike specific NOT UNIVERSAL mounts provided by the maker of the sidecar you have the mounting system checked out. If you deciede you want to put a rig together make sure you start with a bike that what ever sidecar you wish to use the maker can provide you with the proper mounts for the bike. Sidecars are a lot of fun, For my own personal sidecar rigs I have been running dual sport bikes for a while as when I am on the road, if I see a dirt road I like to be able to see where it goes. I have also ran touring bikes in the past such as the Honda Goldwings and the BMW K1200LT as they are great for putting a lot of miles in a day behind you.
Be glad to answer any questions you may have.
