Hi Guys, anyone ever seen a royal star with a hack set up ? I remember riding a royal star about 4 years ago and it had a nice smooth powerband with the v4 engine and shaft drive. I always thought that would make a great bike for a hack set up.

All the Yamaha Star models from 650 up make great tugs.

We have done several different Royal star bikes and make bike spcific mounts as well as new from billet triple tree's to lower the steering effort. My office manager has a 650 V star with our Kenna sidecar on it.
Here is a link to our M72CX page which has a photo of a 1300 road star we did not long ago. http://www.dmcsidecars.com/sidecars/m72cx-sidecar/

I have a Champion Escort on a 2005 Yamaha Venture. My daughter and I rode 8100 last summer, from Anchorage, AK to Disneyland, through National Parks, and then back to Bellingham, Wa to catch the ferry home. If you get the Venture you should consider changing out your final drive to the VMAX conversion. It will give you more power and allow you to use your top gear while pulling a load.

petebooth, how is that rig on the interstate? I have a GL1200 right now, and it tops at around 75mph. We like to head up to the north shore of Lake Superior, but running the interstate is tough! The backroads are nice, but takes twice as long to get there!!

I have had it up to 85mph with my wife in the side car and it runs smooth and straight (tub has the electric tilt mechanism). Hannigan came out with a new side car that is much the same as mine just shorter and not as heavy. Given this as an option when I purchased mine I would have gone with the shorter one. I have a single bucket seat in mine but could have had a bench seat which would probably seat an adult and one small child. Im really pleased with my setup. ( At 85 mph gas milage sucks :o:-( )

I generally run between 65-70mph.

I have a 1996 Royal Star 1300cc with a Champion sidecar. I just put a Steerite triple tree on it, a new fairing and the VMax rear end. I haven't got it dialed in perfect yet, but will let you know how it handles when I do. I will probably ride it this weekend to a car show about 100 miles away and back. Will give it a pretty fair test. Dave Irvine
