Pushing through the snow
My 1977 BMW R100RS has a 4.00(or 4.10)x18 Metzeler sidecar tire at the rear and a 3.75 Metzeler lazer at the front. On the sidecar it has a butt ugly humungus 5.10 Chein Sheing? something mounted to a Harley sidecar wheel.Porportions are way out of whack. In the snow the bike just does 180's around the sidecar wheel. On my last sidecar outfit I had 4.00x18 Dunlop k 70 all around. It tracked very well in the snow.Used it all last winter (except when I was in the hospital but it would have beat a wheel chair).Even showed up at our local bike show in January at minus 20.I'd like to do the same with this one but just can't seem to overcome the largeness of the sidecar wheel.any advise on mounting a different wheel on the Motorvation I have. What about using a Lester front wheel from a beemer? (To match what I now have). This would allow me to run three identical sizes and types of tires.Never had a Beemer before but have had lots of smaller hacks. List of my previous hack bikes:
1969 BSA Goldstar with Weird English hack
1971 CZ175 with Velorex 560
1974 Jawa 350 with Velorex 560 hack (over 100,000 miles)
1975 Honda 750 American sidecar of some kind
1975 Norton Interstate 850 with Harley 195? sidecar.
197? Cossack Dnepr (Wheat bike) Red
1975 RD 400 Racing hack set up.
1979 Kawasaki KZ 1300/Watsonian sidecar (broke the sidecar frame 2x)
1984 Honda V45 Sabre with 2 seater Squire,leading links
1985 Honda V65 with Velorex 700,leading links
1995 Royal Enfield 500/Sputnick sidecar
1954 Royal Enfield Clipper/Modified Cozy sidecar/Leading links
1977 BMW R100RS/Motorvation Royalle II (current ride)
Is there a possibility of using a 19" Sporty front wheel? 3/4" axle and 3" rim I believe. You could put a much narrower boot on it if you have fender clearance.
I have an early Harley sidecar spoker from an early Motorvation Spyder hanging in the shop with the 7" wide hub and a 3.50x16" Chen Shing on it.
Long way from Edmonton tho'.

Thanks.I've seen 4 or 5 Sportster Lester mags come up on E Bay fairly cheap. It's worth investigating further.I'd like to keep the sidecar disk brake set up though.Fender clearance is not a real issue.I have a pile of them lying around. And I'm a handy kinda guy.
