Open face helmets
I mostly wear my Z1R Metro, flip up face shield and build in sun visor in an open face design. very nice, Not much widn noise, nicely priced, easy to replace components.
my wife and i both have a pair of helmets - full face for cold or wet and open face for hot and dry - both sets have helmet headsets so we can talk and listen to music - on long trips there isnt room for both so we try and guess the weather - usually end up taking the full face, getting caought in a hail storm without it would suck just too much & i can remove my face sheild entirely if it gets real hot.

I have also heard that more folks die in their sleep than on motorcycles.
So...if we put these two things together we should take longer rides and sleep less to be safer.

Claude, may I second your answer?
That's about what I try to tell my better half, but in three years only 3 times she left with me on the bike. And I'd love to pass a night in a hay barn again.....
Bikeing is the best to feel alife.
But safety first!
All sidecarists I know/knew have a solid and sane feeling for safety and well calculated risk.
Something I miss in many solobikers. In deed many shouldn't be called bikers, but facy show off kids (or MΓΆchte-gern-fahrer / liked-to-drivers). Real "windfaces" you find in much higher density under the hack pushers.

I have two helmets. One is a ΒΌ with a flip up face shield that is nice for the rain and what little cold we get, the one that gets the most use is a Β½ that I wear goggles. It is hot most of the time here. In Fla if you have 10k ins you do not have to have a helmet so there are times that I run with a ball cap or a rag.
Just realized I did not clearly answer the original question. I wear an open face stocking cap, so open would be my answer. Thank you
I guess I'm paranoid. I've been a member of the National Ski Patrol for 25 years. I've been skiing since I was 6 years old. Knowing what I now know about how fragile the human body is, I wear a helmet whenever my body or the objects around me are going over 25 miles per hour. We had a local woman die from head injury sustained by falling off a non moving bicycle. Go figure. Skiing, Mountain biking, rock and ice climbing, hang gliding, base jumping and motorcycles all share the same risk. Modern cars with air bags being my only exception. I wear a full face helmet year round. I must admit that a 3/4 helmet is tempting when it's 90 degrees out. I seem to be in the minority opinion when it comes to head gear. By the way, full face helmets and a neck gaitor are a must when it's freezing.
I'm with you Mark. Because i wear glasses I prefer the flipfront helmets. I have a half helmet I use out on the range but I don't feel comfortable wearing it in traffic.
XD for me.....
