I am tired of riding a two wheel to sidecar Rallys! My Ural was just too slow and I couldn't ask anyone to wait for me. I found a 2007 BMW r1200R with a Watsonian CP700 sidecar in more than fair shape. A couple of pops and bangs here and there with Heidenau K60s telling me it was used off road but still a solid bike that strongly appealed to me. Rode Amtrak to California picked it up and rode it home, a 1200 mile test ride. This week got an appropriate front tire on it and the wheel repaired from flat spot (again off roading). Next get rid of the Heid on the rear. I have some more to do but I like this setup, Comfortable and handles nice with plenty of power. If your thinking a R bike is a sporty type bike this one apparently when the sidecar was added they previous PO did a Unit Garage Retro kit add which mates with the Watsonian great.

@spat That’s a good looking rig. Which I admire as I’ve just added a car to my R1200R. And a good use for these middle aged beemers that I’ve found hard to sell. Anyway please tell me about your new tire selection as I need to replace my current sport touring tires.
Hi HighGearHomer I like the looks of the R I also like the retro look of mine its a bit different either case they make a great tug.
I kept with stock sized tires 120/70 180/55 17s mounted Michelin Road 6 GT. Suggested for it's stiff sidewall, wrapped more like a bias tire and long wear for heavy sport touring bikes. The front was a great improvement. The rear and SC tire are mounted ready to go back on but doing maintenance, FD, spline lube and surprise the front driveshaft housing gator is torn. So when I get that replaced I'll get it out for a good ride and I can tell ya more on the ride. FYI the sidecar tire is a Firestone F560 125x15, all radials good or bad for a sidecar to be determined.
