This now is history:

Hello Friends,
today I had a marriage here in my shop.
After many month riding my Jawa as solo today I reenforced the luggage rack and whacked out the tube that didn't permit me to attach the 4th mounting arm to the upper shock base.
Jolly Roger 2 is complete again.
The dogs spun wild in the patio, but didn't stay inside the moving sidecar. For sure in a couple of days they will become used to it again.
Well, for sure my passed by sidecar queen 16 year old Camilla would not have shown any fear.

Now the fishing tackle and worms are prepaired, even the shorty rod reappeared after years dug under the spare parts on top of the storage racks.
Couple of hours sleep and off we go.

This now is history:

Yesterday night we came back from our soak wet fishing trip.
Good fun Guapote = bass , mujara = sun pearch, Machaca = some kind of trout whitefish mixture. Excellent sporty fighter and taste, allthough preety small.
Sadly 1/5 were full of parasites.

Anyhow this trip was a bad hit into my pride as rig rider!
20 miles out of the house trying to cross the cordillera a bad sound and CKRRRRHHHHH. broken piston rings blocked the engine completely.
We had to roll down 2 miles and find a truck to bring us home... 2nd time in my lifetime ('83 I whacked out a brand new waterhydrant with my nearly new CB650)
and the first time in my life I broke an engine completely so that the block is completely locked.
What a shame!

And on top the best wife of all:
"Don't fix that "black hole" again!"
....
The 3rd time overhoul would be too much in only 29000km. There she is right....
But I have the hope to find a watercooled 4 stroke engine or another bike.

In the end I have to remember my sticker on my Norton that smashed me in Death Valley 1988:

"Don't take life so seriously, its only temporary"

Enjoy life.
Meanwhile I continue with the KLR650 as solo bike. light lugguage with only 2 rods was good fun too.
Sven

PS. Ara is right!

Sven,
Bad luck, but I see you haven't broken your sense of humor. That's not repairable.

Good hunting,

Lonnie

Sorry to hear of your bad mechanical luck. But it appears the fishing was pretty good. Keep your spirit and search out a new tug. Maybe something on that KLR650???

This now is history:

I did buy he KLR as new pulling horse when I was allready beware of the 350 Jawa's problems in the mountain range. (2 stroker, aircooled, week clutch, overheating breaks)
But when I ran in the KLR I noticed very fast that neither the frame, nor the engine would help me at all. As rig the KLR has practically no space at all for a beefy subframe. and the engine would wear out
in our mountain range probably in less then 20.000miles. But if I keep it as solo I am sure that the first mayor repair will come at 50.000mi. And by the way the Velorex is way too low and light for the KLR
So pure economy calculation tells me. "Why rape her?"

Now I have still a frame and boat that might take any kind of engine. and why not a Diesel, electric or hydraulic drive?
Including in a flat land like Germany I would still replace the original engine and use it for Winter riding.
I never have seen a rig with such an economic engine. 4,2l/100km=56mi/gal long term average.
And came on at the first kick since the electric changes 2 month ago.

Now the new story starts!!!!

Hi,hi, the best of all wifes seems to get softend and has a pitty with Jolly Roger 2.
If the new heart will not be way out of budget she might approve it....
Let's lurk for a new engine.
Who has conection to Rotax or Jawa?
They made a watercooled 500ccm engine right for this frame some 14 years ago.
Or who has better proposals?
I am open to everything that will be able for high mountain range.
Myself I have as option in mind:
Rotax 500ccm from Jawa...

power just 25 to 35hp but good torque is needed
some 4 stroke engine watercooled
Diesel engine for biodiesel
electric motor with recovering when running down hill (perhaps with range extender)
or hydraulic motor (gearless automatic from forward to backward and breaking without over heating the breaks)

The mind get into revs....so many theoretical dream options, but NO realistic option on hand available.
Who has hand on experience?
:O
