My new number is (drum roll please) 8391. Pleased to meet all you sidecar folk here and hope to meet more of you in person at sidecar events.

Had an interesting sidecar experience a few weeks ago. November 4 was an AMA Ride for Kids. I live in Orlando and the ride was in Lithia FL, about 80 miles. I plugged the address into the GPS and went riding. It was very foggy, almost unusual here in Central FL but I am used to fog. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley in California. Got to Lithia and the fog cleared and the ride was officially blessed by the law enforcement officers escorting the group. I had 2 kids in the sidecar on LSQUID and in a testament to my riding, they both went to sleep during the 1.5 hour ride. I found it rewarding and will do it again in the future, only the next time as a registered sidecarist ( is that a word?)!

It sure is a word Lsquid and also the name of the magazine you'll be receiving now. Welcome! Hope to see you at a rally one day even though we're in opposite corners of the country...

Yep, it's a word around here. Thanks for being an ambassador for us sidecarists at the Ride for Kids.

Welcome to the crew, Laurence.

I know what you mean about the Ride for Kids being rewarding. I love meeting those kids and giving them a special day away from doctors and hospitals. I just got back from the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's annual meeting for their Ride for Kids teams. I met a woman and her 5 year old there whose story made it crystal clear that the research funded by those rides makes a difference. Her son would not be alive today if not for some brand new, experimental research funded by those rides. It's hard to put into words what it's like to talk to that energetic little boy who is only alive because of the partnership between the motorcycling community and some very dedicated research doctors.

Hope to see you at the rally in Arkansas!

Gary

Welcome LS, you will find there are lots of words floating around here that do not exist any where else. But we understand them. Also I have heard it said a lot on here "NO pictures = it didn't happen" but seriously show us the rig. As you can see there is an unbelievable variety of Hacks on here and sidecars too 😉

Oh and thanks for the Ride for Kids mention , I searched it out and found 4 locations less than 3 hours ride from my house so I think I will try to get to a few of them this coming year

I'm new here also - but welcome aboard anyway. And helping kids is one of the really worthwhile things in life. Good on ya!

I shall be at the y'all come rally in Silver Springs. I would like to get a cabin there but don't want to foot the whole bill, or even occupy the whole cabin. I don't imagine my wife and son will be able to make it so I would have a half a cabin (1 bedroom) to share. If anyone wants the other half, please contact me and I will make the reservations. I will be reserving for Friday and Saturday. If you need Sunday night that would be on you. I would like to know in advance a bit (like very soon) so I can make a reservation.

I was at the rally last year but just came for an afternoon to see other sidecars and sidecarists! to see who and what they were like. I was well pleased, to say the least. Friendly and sharing would be how I remember you. I had the black Road Glide and was riding solo. One of you was kind enough to let me ride his rig and see how a sidecar rode.
