New guy with new hack
Hi I've been riding since the 70s.. My latest ride is a 08 Yamaha Roadliner S 1900 V-twin 700# (aluminum frame) but its fully dressed so probably 760#.. i just bought a 94 Velorex 562 for. I've been doing research here and other places and it seems a lot of people think the Velorex ir too light for a big bike.. I was planning on upgrading to a Harley solid 17" wheel and need to figure out best way to upgrade the axle.
Can I add extra weight with frame reinforcement and maybe a heavier body? Do you guys think extra weight would make it a safer setup or am I missing something else??
I live in Methuen, MA BTW

There's can and should. By the time you rebuild everything even if you don't put a $ amount on your time, it might be cheaper to buy a different sidecar. It will definitely be easier.
But... if you are decent at fabrication, have the materials, and really want it - anything is possible.
For a first rig, I think you'll find you'll get on the road much quicker if you go with known components.
What to want to do with the wheel can be done . It will be a bit of work.. I kind of did the same thing with a 563. I wanted the same wheel on sidecar the bike had.
Pulled axle cut down an axle for that wheel and weld in place from the back. I used a rear wheel to do the job you can cut the crush drive off. Hard to do.
Or just flip the wheel around. The 562 ,563 wheel setup is a bit on the weak side for a big bike.
