Can anyone tell me if this is a Hollandia sidecar and the model and year? I'm told it is a 50's Hollandia but have not been able to find anything that looks like it. I would love to find a parts breakdown and maybe a source for parts if needed. I'm completed new to sidecars other than driving one once back in the 70's just to see what they were like. I'm planning to mount it on my R50/2 just to run around on the local roads with. Thanks

Welcome to the forum and the offset sidecar world. Good luck with your project

I don't have any information, but here are pics of the sidecar. Please keep us informed of your progress.

As far as the mounts go, the lower collets look like it may have been mounted on an early Beemer before.
You seem to have one Velorex upper strut aassembly and one URAL/Dnepr strut. Both will work fine.
I doubt that any other OEM parts will be easily obtainable. Several different types of industrial equipment seats are available from Northern tool and equipment for reasonable prices..

Halandia parts have not been around for years. This should go onto your bike no problem. The rear of your frame should have a ball on it. The engine mount on the front is replaced by a ball. For the upper mounts you have sleaves in the frame for eye bolts. We make the eye bolts $48 each but no longer offer the front ball mount.

Cool looking chair, loads of potential! I can almost see [imagine] the windshield mounts and stuff in place.

From what I've read in the various forums and sidecr info sources the 'ball and collet' type mounts are the least desireable, is that so? The other types using clevis rod ends and eye bolts etc. are much stronger and more reliable for staying stuck together as planned?

I believe all the BMW /2 all have the ball and collet type lower mounts and clevis rod ends mounts for the top frame attach points.

The 30mm ball and collet that vintage sidecars as well as Ural, Dnepr and CJ sidecars use work fine. The ones that have saftey issues are the ones made by California sidecars and Motovation sidecars which were around 5/8 inch.
We have collets in stock for the 30mm balls, we no longer make the balls as there is not enough demand to make up another batch.

Hollandias look like a kind of crude Steib TR500, this body is not a Hollandia.
On the John's Beemer Garage site there are a couple Hollandia pictures.

Yours truly owned brand new Hollandia sidecar from 1969 to 1974 [ran it 5 years on '59 R69 rebuilt from wreck]. Nose is wrong on car in your picture [mine was flat on top] AND there should be hinged trunk lid on back, which opened in reverse[hinge at rear; locking trunk handle at front]. Original dark blue s/c seat had horsehair pad stuffing; was very comfortable for our kids. Body painted traditional BMW black with very sharp twin white striping along sides of nose & BWM emblem on right forward side of body. Windshield had hinged frame pivots on body sides; could be pushed forward/down if one wanted to 'ride in the wind'. Lower half, below shield was heavy, dark grey canvas, which snapped across s/c body & bottom of shield. There was also metal step on right frame rail, to help our kids enter hack easier. Open s/c fender had white light on front, red on rear [both lights identical size/shape except for lens color]. Had spoked s/c wheel but no brake.THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES.....ala Bob Hope! TTFN.....Old Tom aka papasmurf in NH 🙂
