Anyone know if an old HD cast iron sidecar ballast will fit on a 2003 HD sidecar?

I've got a friend that would like to sell his.

Thanks

Carl

Does it look like this? I had this one on my 1996 side car, now sold. I think the weight was a 1995 part number. I think it should work on any single leaf spring Harley sidecar. Mine was a drum brake model, I don't know if the disc brake models would have any clearance issues to the weight but I think it should fit.

Was the ballast installed on both sides or only on one. Also, does anyone know of any available for sale?

These are for the outside spring pack only.

The ballast is only intended for the sidecar wheel side. You want the weight out as close to the wheel as possible to help keep the sidecar down in right turns. It weighs about 40 pounds and although it does help keep the sidecar down in right turns, I think it makes the ride worse on rough roads. The sidecar ballast kit part number is 88177-95. I bought one from www.tomsnosparts.com in Ohio. Google the part number and maybe you will be able to find one somewhere. Good luck.
