I am planning to mount a Cozy hack on my TGB R9i 151 scoot. yeah, I
am a scooter guy! 8^) Any one here have any experience with this sort
of installation? Advise would be greatly appreciated
I have been been lurking for while, this is my first posting. Also have a
scooter trike but do know that a hack is driven a bit differently.

I have seen many light sidecars mounted on scooters, mostly on the 650's. And you are right on the money about a sidecar riding differently than a three wheeler"! Good luck with the project, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Thanks, Bob. I have seen pix of Cozys mounted on 90 & 125 cc scoots. Usually they are mounted on Vespa/Stellas.
I also have a TGB Delivery 150 and am debating as to which one to use. If needed will beef up the tranny but both
of these scoots are designed to run 55-65 mph and handle the hills here in NGA with no problem. And both have
oil coolers.
Cozy Road Rocket is on order and we hope to get started on it after Thanksgiving.

That's a bit of a project you've taken on. What kind of mounts did you order with your Cozy? The vespa mounts or the universal/motorcycle mounts? Because the TGBs are tube framed under the plastic, I'm guessing the motorcycle style mounts will be more what you need.
Expect to lose about 10 mph off of your top speed (based on reports of vespa/stella sidecar drivers) - or spend some money on hotrod parts.

My guess is that you're going to have to remove the bodywork to see where the frame tubes are, figure out good mounting points, fabricate the mounting hardware, mount the sidecar, take note of mounting locations, remove the sidecar and then put the body work back on and cut holes in the body work for access to the mounts.

Welcome to the forum. Best of luck with the project - be sure and put up some pics as you progress.

Thanks for the info, punkozuna. going with the univeral mount at this point. Right again on removing some of the body work, not a big
job the way the TGB is set up. I expect to lose some top end speed but may leave the windshield off and see if that makes a difference.
The TGB 151cc is oil cooled and puts out 10.1 hp. My L9 cruises at 60 and tops out at 65. have had it up to 70 but that was on a slight
downhill run.
Piaggio owns 48% of the company and they make a good scoot. Last year I did did the tail of the dragon at Deals Gap, NC with the Del,
150 and have ridden the roads around Btyson City, NC this year with the R9.
Will take pix as we do the job and let you see the results.

Several of the tube framed scooters use the Velorex attachment kit which is also used for the Cozy universal motorcycle mounts.

Unfortunately the Cozy only comes with the Vespa type mount. A least as supplied to the dealer that I bought the rig from.
May have to buy the universal mount somewhere else. Sidecar should be here by the 28th and then the adventure (debacle?)
begins. Probably will do some mods to the tranny and possibly a new head and valves for the gy6 150cc engine. the latter
should increase the cc's to 180. When this is all over I will have the only TGB R9i in the country with a sidecar. I will arrive
at the poor house in style!! Pix will be taken as we progress. Happy Thanksgiving.

If you decide you want to sell the Vespa mounts let me know. I've got a Stella and it may end up with a sidecar one day.

Or maybe you should hold onto them in case you ever decide to sell the sidecar?

If we decide to sell the Vespa mounts I will let you know. We are sort of exploting virgin territory at this
point til we get the hack and unpack it.

Picked up the sidecar today after inspecting it at Vespa Marietta.Every thing is there, looks good. Trailered it back to my friends shop and will get started on it
this week slowly as we are in for some rainy and cold weather that will slow things down a bit. Will be taking and posting pix as we go.

Unpacked the Cozy yesterday. The Good: Packed in a wooden crate, bolted, very secure. You could drop that crate off a loading dock and not damage
the hack. Took an hour to take it apart. All in good shape. The bad: no key for the trunk lock, no assembly instructions. The funny: badged as a
ScooterWorks, not a Cozy. not a problem. The unexpected: Has a convertable top. I was expecting a button down cover only. A pleasant surprise.
Vespa Marietta emailed me mounting & assembly instructions and is getting me a keyed lock assembly to replace the unkeyed one. Found a photo
post of how to assemble and mount to a Vespa online which will be a great help. The Cozy instructions have no pix, just printed instructions.
once our weather eases up (monsoon right now for the last 2 days) we will get to work. Will take pixs.
Kudos: To Floyd Grimm of Vespa Marietta for all his help and advise. I am located 30 miles north of Marietta, Ga. and dealing with a local company
has been a plus.
