Greetings, all. While my lovely bride has no objections to my motorcycling passion, she also has absolutely no interest in it and does not wish to participate. That said, as I've mentioned before, I'd like to hack my Vulcan 750, but since no one will be in the box, I'm looking into the possibility of a cargo box arrangement on a sidecar subframe. This would allow me to have the third wheel and to carry stuff securely, particularly camping gear and other such stuff. I'd kind of like it to look nice and be compatible with the bike, also...I think the VN750 is a pretty nice-looking ride.

I know that Squire/Watsonian makes such a cargo box rig and Tow-Pac has that little sidecar box arrangement set up for EGs and GWs at a very high acquisition cost. Is anyone aware of any other manufacturer doing this, or are these rigs pretty much custom-built? As always, thanks in advance for all replies...

Bob

I just happen to have a utility sidecar for sale in Boise, Idaho.
A URAL Classic sidecar with a new aluminum workbox body. Ready to go, with a new tire, running lights and wiring harness.
It is modestly priced at $1,295.00.
For another $50.00 I will palletize it for COD freight delivery any where in the US you choose.

Thanks, gents. Lonnie, that's an interesting rig you have there and, in my mind, would be a good setup with a medium displacement 4-cyl UJM for fireroad , offroad and backroad use. Not really what I had in mind for the Vulcan, but it's giving me some good ideas about how to proceed, so I appreciate your response.

Now that I know such a rig can be custom-designed, I'll have to give it some thought and decide how to proceed. Thanks to you both.

My favorite Cargo Box is the Sputnik that I had on a '98 Ural which had a 1000 cc BMW drive train in it. I also had one on a KLR 650. You can haul anything on one. Even a Canoe.

My Dneper is a pretty fair "box". The seat comes right out to fit a small welder and assorted tools. I built a large rack that attaches to the smaller racks with a quick detach system. I once carried a 4'x8' sheet of plywood on a calm day from the hardware store to my home. Ive hauled bags of concrete and sand, and delivered my custom fire screens 500 miles away. It's a great work rig.

I totally love the cargo type sidecars. The designs of them can be from a simple truck box to a one off box built for specific needs or combinations of needs. The designs are only limited by the owners vision and what he or she intends to use the sidecar for.
