Hi!
Am new... From Australia.
Currently own a monster 620. Many years before a Yamaha Rz 500 ( nasty thing)and a cbr , plus some dirt bikes.had to redo my license , long story , but am looking for good sidecar bike . Looking at a royal Enfield with car , 500cc , any good ? Would rather. A twin. Want the sidecar for storage as much as anything.
Ural could be good , but go for $15-18k aus . Here .
Any other models i can look at ? Nicer price range , keeping in mind I'd like to load the bike up , and hot and cold weather are going to be encountered .
Would love and aprieciate any advice
Thanks
Barney

I like the V strom 650. Lots of power, and can do light off road riding. We also make a mount set for left side mount for this bike (as well as our Expedition sidecar) and offer steering modifications for light steering.
I also like the BMW F650GS twin (really an 800CC bike) for which we also offer left side mounts and steering modifications.

We've set up a few Royal Enfields with Cozi sidecars, they work quite well. You won't win any drag races with its 500cc one lung motor, but it will do 90kmh and manage around 65-70mpg. If you want more weight carrying capacity and speed, you're better off with a multi-cylinder Jap bike in the 650cc range.

If you are looking to go beer budget, Suzuki S-40 with a light sidecar works well.
I used one for over three years and 35 thousand miles with a velorex sidecar through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
I made my own mounts, didn't trust the stock Velorex mounts not to slip.
I have also had good luck with DR650 Suzuki carrying a Ural hack for on or off road work.
It's a bit more powerful than the S-40.

After riding MZ250 and Jawa 350 for years (last in high mountain range in Costa Rica) I can only recommend one thing: Water cooled 4 stroker and Jap or Westeuropean!!!
Albeight I got this summer a Ural Patrol, I do not think it is as reliable a a real modern engine.
Just 2 cent.

Where are you Barney?
I have a low mile 2000 Suzuki LS650 Savage for sale. It had a Velorex Cruiser on it but I've sold the sidecar and the Velorex mounts plus one special mount are still on the bike.
I want $2,000 for it.

Thanks for all the help
Enfield is off the list, 90kms max would terrible here, some speed limits are130kms here . Was also wondering how much weight i can load one up with (total) , on average . The Suzuki or Yamaha might do the job. Some dirt roads would be about it for off road work , for now.
Thanks again
Barney
Oh ... An hackn , I might be a bit far away, but thanks:)
