I know that this is not a record, nor is it probably even close. But I just turned 49,000 miles on my hack since late January of 2005. I make that about 3 years and 3 months. Does the USCA keep any mileage records? I don't think they have an annual "contest" like the BMWMOA does. Maybe we should. Any thoughts?

From 3/11/07 to 11/4/07, I rode 16635 miles. The snow, ice, and cold weather kept me from getting more.

Hey Wayne....

You got me beat, but we need some more folks. I am still looking at 48,000+ in just over 3 years to compare to. And I am not giving up. I ride 6+ days a week, 2 major trips a year, and sometimes 1000 over the weekends.

Prior to getting into working on sidecars full time we would run around 10k a year. The highest year I did was just over 13k.
Hmmmm..Once had a friend who loved to fish. He loved it so much he and his brother opened a tackle shop. During the time they had the tackle shop he seldom went fishing. Now the shop is closed and he fishes all the time.

'Bout 10 years ago I was a partner in a used motorcycle shop and worked there not-quite full time for a almost a year. I had 3 motorcycles at home, but I rode less that year than any other until I "retired" after a crash in 2001. Seems after talking/selling/repairing/financing/bookkeeping motorcyles all day, I needed a break. I ended up buying a 12 ft boat/motor and fished a little.

I almost always have fishing gear in my sidecar 🙂

I have always been leery of the idea of taking something that you love to do and make it into your job. It always sounded like a great way to end up hating your hobby. Not that it can't work for some people.

Our highest mile years were in the early 90's. From 86 to 92 I put 156,000 miles on a GL1200 with a sidecar and about another 12,000 on a Tourglide without a hack. Since my son grew up, I don't ride as often. I only put 26,000 on the Valkyrie in the last four seasons.

I've already got 1200 on the Guzzi this spring. We'll see how it goes.

Those Guzzis make great tugs, don't they?

No sidecar yet. I purchased the Coupe Royale about a month ago but I'm enjoying the 40+ mpg and know I'll cut it in half with the sidecar.

Perhaps. I'll probably mount it and if the fuel is too bad, replace the body with a utility body of some sort. We'll see. Right now I'm trying to find a different wheel for it. It has a grey painted 13 inch Mustang rim. 5 hole 4 1/2 inch pattern. I'm looking for a chrome rim or maybe an old 5 spoked mag for it. I know a guy who has a Ford Salvage yard with a lot of old stuff, once this damned snow stops I'm going to take a ride over there and see what he has.

Combining bikes and hacks I ride maybe 35-40k a year. In the last two years I have ridden the hacks 30k+. 15 on the Wing, 12k on the V Strom, and 5k on the rental in NZ. The problem for us is finding sidecar rentals overseas. I think we got lucky in Kiwi land. I am semi retired, which helps a bunch. Like some others, I almost never drive a car. In California, I can split traffic with a bike, so I tend to ride one of them more often, particularly in the LA area.
