A newbe member from Italy

Posted by: @miles-ladueNext up we have this 1992 Harley-Davidson FLHTC with British sidecar attached on the wrong side. You can't say it's the RIGHT side, so if it's not the RIGHT side, then it must be the wrong side....but I'm not taking "sides" in this.
This is the new rig that Arnaldo recently bought. He was shy about sharing pictures of it, and somehow made the mistake of posting a picture of his 27 year old BMW zed 3M....but this is his new sidecar rig.
The sidecar looks to be British to me, but...what do others think, or...Bruce down under, what do you thunk ?

Hello FlyingMonkeys,
you are correctΒ when you suggest time has come that I unveil the known history and post pictures of my new acquisition, a sidecar rig based on a Harley Davidson FLHTC.Β
By consequence I believe I should close this discussion about a new association member from Italy and open a new one in the section
Technical/Mechanical Discussions.
One thing is sure, she isn't British, she is Japanese.
The bike herself was built in USA in 1991 sent to Japan and first registered there in 1992 in the state she is still, her only Japanese owner (thanks M8) having kept this beauty in super duper conditions throughout his 33 years of ownership.
More to come... 😉Β

NOW, send up a bunch of pictures of your new sidecar rig, so we can look it over, and tell you (as best we can) what sidecar is attached to that H-D ElectraGlide.

Hello FlyingMonkeys,
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β I try answering best I can that full of significance post of yours.
- Thanks for appreciating my English, it isn't my mother language but I try my best...
- Thanks also for appreciating my attitude towards life since I endeavor all times acting properly.
- The Ducati 1098S is a racing bile prepared for the WSTK championship by the late and regretted Franco FarnΓ©.Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Should his name be new, you may look at:Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β https://www.cycleworld.com/2015/03/10/franco-farne-legendary-ducati-motorcycle-rider-mechanic-engineer/ Β
- I managed to purchase the bike, before it was raced, from my friend Stefano Caracchi who was the boss of Scuderia SC, sustained by DUCATI. I bought her because I needed a press testing and show bile to be installed with a magnesium single sided swing arm suspension for DUCATI I then designed, manufactured and sold from my company.
-
- The 1998 Hayabusa in the garage is a different kettle of fish. She was, and possibly still is, the fastest road registered bike but again, being curious by nature, I was thinking that her 1300cc engine could give more.Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β By consequence I designed for that model a turbo modification, but that was a product line I stopped after a time when I realized the legal implication of being the one selling to any wealthy bike rider more the 300 BHP.Β
- To be sincere, IMHO running a bile over 160 mph is stupid, though believe me that accelerating a turbo Hayabusa in 6th gear from 40 to 120 mph in a few seconds equals all time to an orgasm.
- From a personal physical standpoint I am glad to be able to continue doing what I set out to do and I do not feel grumbling even though spine lost flexibility... π
- I often looked at the Honda Goldwing as a potential garage guest but never set out buying one, it's good too to have regrets!
- My compliments for having owned many H-D ElectraGlides, generally specking HD are a reliable mounts, so I expect no problems from my 46.000 miles example, even though she started running in Japan back in 1992.
- Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... your new sidecar rig is a beautiful toy and I compliment you again for preparing to set on a trilling European adventure.Β
- As you are now shipping her to Germany,I wish you and her all the best riding luck!
- PS I'll soon post a up a bunch of pictures of my Electra Glide rig, and a summary of her history that I know insofar, to ask for help members of the Sidecar Association for the many details still unknown, but I will do so by opening a discussion in a new section of the forum

Such a great engine!Β I bet it is an absolute pleasure to drive at any speed. 😍Β
Was looking at the Watsonian Sidecar website, and saw their "Monza" sidecar.Β Wonder if this is your model with a few accessories?

Hello Sheath,
thanks, I had a look at your link, my Japanese registered Electra Glide Classic sidecar is not a "Monza"
I was looking for images all over the net, challenging google with all question I could invent.
The only similar sidecars I found was from some rally in Japan, two bikes with a rig made by the same maker.... but have no clue who the manufacturer maybe.
See for yourself
Β and this is my rig
Β

I'd agree.Β Does not appear to be a Monza.Β Sure is a good looking rig.Β 👍Β

So a Japanese built sidecar?
Β

That's is my new rig, as imported from Japan.
She possibly is a Japanese built sidecar.
The pics below are the only pics I managed to find all over the web.
The sidecars depicted are identical.
I long to discover who's the rig manufacturer.
Hoping some of our members may help!

It might be worth contacting Mike Paull.Β He has been to Japan, and in the pictures of his trip is a Harley rig similar to yours.Β Β Not sure if he is a member here.
Mike is the owner of LBS Sidecars in the U.S.Β He doesn't sell a sidecar like yours, but may have info based on his sidecar vacation in Japan.
Hope this is helpful.Β 👍Β
***ETA: I don't know if Mike will be able to recognize your rig.Β My thought is that he might be ableΒ to put you in contact with a Japanese club member who may know someone who owns one there.

Hello Sheath
Thanks for your message and the suggestions contained.
I will definitely get in touch with Mike Paull, not only he is knowledgeable in this field but has also been touring around Japan in a sidecar rally, a rare bird.... 😉Β
Kind regards
