That silly little stroller wheel off to the side BARELY qualifies it to be called a sidecar.

More like a motorcycle with an outrigger. Maybe they should rename the class "Canoe bike" because all the bikes in that class look pretty much the same.
I did notice a 650 Ural set a land speed record a bit over 117 mph. At first I thought someone drove off a cliff. But no. It really did run that speed. Short of the missing tub, it still resembled a Sidecar rig. 👍
Cool article about the Ural. https://www.rideapart.com/features/269058/ural-speed-week-bonneville-speed-record/

OOOOhhhh, back in the day, merely a few years ago I would have considered that rig!, Pretty freakin cool and I have always respected the GXER 750 chassis. My wife would probably psychically B!tch slap you for showing me that! LOL. I Imagined something like that out at Alvord, but one of the risks at Alvord is the occasional rock or other random, didn't seem large at first, bump that becomes catastrophic at speed. Even my little Blokart with pneumatic wheels and flexy axles hitting some of these at over 40 was high pucker factor, if you know what I mean.
The Jesse Comb crash was attributed to the front wheel hitting something and coming apart at well over 500. Hard to imagine the forces involved.

The class needs to require a passenger.
Or a full sized dummy.
Same thing I suppose.

After what we saw live at the Isle of Man TT, especially at Glen Helen, I will not argue your point!Posted by: @brstrThe class needs to require a passenger.

I think there is a class that has a monkey requirement. There is a Youtube video of a two bike/four person team.

Neil, your earlier post mentioning a "Blokart" went right over my head. Googled it just now. Huh! That looks like fun. As a kid I sailed quite a bit in small boats including HobieCats so I bet I could pick up Blokarting pretty quickly if I gave it a try. Though with all the extra weight I'm carrying around my waist now I don't think I'd be much of a racer.Posted by: @northwetneilOOOOhhhh, back in the day, merely a few years ago I would have considered that rig!, Pretty freakin cool and I have always respected the GXER 750 chassis. Here's a vintage vid from YouTube --

Here's the article I sent to my old Multihull friends. We had a Sol cat 18, then a custom 27' Trimaran and then a 36' Newick tri. 9 foot itus is too expensive to maintain! We are planning to go to Ivanpah to race the nationals in early April, with our little Blokart.

120 MPH is the fastest I have even taken the sidecar . It hit the wall of drag and weight vs HP and torque. It was pulling good but had no more to give.

That 120 was on a 2020 with a strong stage 2 Torque CAM ,good torque exhaust and intake. It was also tuned to make use of the stage 2.
That rig is on the heavy side both bike and sidecar.
The best my 1996 could do with the sidecar was 80 Mph and that was had on it. Surprising is the 2015 Street 750 . On a flat road it could get 99 mph.
Problems show up at those speeds if it is not mounted right, tire pressure is off. Also any mistakes you make in steering can land you in the hospital.

I've done 80mph on the Screaming Yellow Zonker (SYZ). That was the posted limit, and the weather was great. It could go faster, but I haven't been on a road with a speed limit higher than 80mph yet.
SYZ felt very confident at that speed. I was mostly concerned that the Starbucks Venti Caramel Macchiato would cool too fast. 😉

Hmmm....if I understand you correctly, you only go as fast as the posted speed limit ????????????
Double Hmmm.....every sidecar rig I have owned better be able to hit 100 mph....even the Suzy Burgman 650 w/ Hannigan Classic sidecar. Lordy knows that Triumph Rocket III that I owned for all of one week could hit that speed. And every Goldwing sidecar rig can.....even my very first sidecar rig....a 1986 Goldwing 1200 w/California Friendship lll sidecar, that had 105,000 miles on the olde 1200cc carb'd engine.
That '06 Wing that Thane owns now....on my way home from Los Angeles to Olympia, WA, after Champion installed the new Daytona 2+2 sidecar to it....I "had" to drive it home at well over a "ton", just to make sure...
I am afraid.......afraid that I would break....the SYZ.
Truth be told, the SYZ is theeeee perfect bike for my choice of how you use the SYZ. It's ideal for dual sport sidecar(ing)
It doesn't need to go any faster than it does.

The Weestrom ran out at 145kph which surprised me.
The Guzzi ran to an indicated 175 kph which is 14.1416 % optimistic or so .
It was down hill so doesn't count but I was still surprised at the speed.
It was just tickling the underside of the magic ton.
Still it's faster than a Ural even if I had the screen off the chair.
