[Sticky] Introduce Yourself!
Welcome Glen and his wife, this is truly a remarkable forum, the people here are very knowledgeable and very eager to help. I used to live in Upstate New York in Plattsburgh. Always loved the weather there and the area was so fun to travel and take the kids on adventures.
@2fltc Hi
It's a pretty nice place. Has the full Indian timeline from prototype to present, a bunch of AMA bikes, customs, and a lot of early bikes. Has a couple of "Wall of Death" s set up.If you are in the area ,worth the visit.
I thought the Urals were very rugged, they didn't fall apart.
@dennis-peabody Hi. I still haven't been to Plattsburgh, but we get as close as North Creek regularly. The ADKs are beautiful,even if the black flies and mosquitoes can be bad.Lots of good riding up there, without as many cars.
Hello. I am new to sidecars having just purchased a 2013 Harley Electra Glide with a Motorvation sidecar. I am looking for a shop to service it. I first checked with Texas Sidecars because, as I understand it, they took over the company. Kent kindly referred me here. It's really nice to know there is a community for sidecars. I live near Lexington, KY and if anyone could point me to the nearest shop or individual who could help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Screwtape
Hello everyone. I’d like to introduce myself—and thank Jerry for his help and interest. My name is René; I’m of Cuban origin and live in Spain. I’ve been riding in sidecars with my grandfather since I was four and learned a lot, though I realize that the more I know, the more I realize how little I actually know—so I hope to learn from all of you. I’ll try to post some photos from yesterday and today, though I’m not very tech-savvy. Thanks for having me. René.
Hello John and Rene
Welcome aboard, we are glad you found us and happy to have you here. a couple more post and you can post pictures
That would be Motorcyclepedia Museum 250 Front St, Newburgh, NYPosted by: @gaweston@2fltc We are in Salisbury Mills, near Newburgh & West Point. (There's a good motorcycle museum in Newburgh owned by the guy who runs V-Twin)
about an hoour North of NYC
The Mrs and I rode our Honda ST1100 with EZS RX5 sidecar there from our home in So Jersey a few years ago.This museum is well worth the trip. Especially if Indian is your favorite marque. The museum staff was totally impressed with our sports tourer sidecar rig. Welcome to the madness.
@sidewise They have a great staff, heavy on the volunteers, there. My wife had some friends visit us ,and we took them there on a day they were closed. They let them in anyway (I renewed my membership) and spent 3 hrs taking them around the place.
@sidewise Here are some shots from when the Museum hosted the Cannonball Run in 2012 (Newburgh to San Francisco?)
I think that year entrants had to be 1928-9 or earlier
My name is Kevin Winters. I'm not much on introductions but I am trying to make my three post minimum so I can post pictures of my project and get some advice. I plan to hang a 1954 LE Steel Car onto a 2004 Road King. My Father in law has had sidecars for years. He currently has three different rigs and has corrupted me I guess. I currently have a 1971 Servicar, a custom bobber, and the 2004 Road King. My wife has a 1999 Road King, a 2019 Indian Chief Vintage, and a "Triked" Low Rider, so my garage is about full. Now I just have to think of something to put in one more post so I can get back to the business at hand. Thanks in advance of the help.
