Here are some of the capabilities of the text editor. One thing I notice is as I type, if I pause for about 5 seconds, it automatically saves a draft so my work will not be lost if I get distracted and go away or have a power failure or reboot or whatever.

Bold text. Italics.

Text of a different size (14 pt). And you can change colors.

This also has emoticons/smilies. 😀  👍

One thing I don't see yet is how to insert an image. (Fixed)

I like the look, thinking about aging eyes and all, not sure if is easy to do but a darker font might be easier to read. Now what I type here is darker than the paragraph above. Let's see what happens when I click "Add Reply"

It went lighter like the original paragraph... hmmm? I like the darker font better.

Jerry,  and Jan.....I am not  qualified to  comment on  changes to the  USCA website,  as it is not  my forte, and I am  much too  removed from  immediate  technology to offer intelligent  suggestions  or opinions.

I am  quite  comfortable with the  current  website  format,  albeit  it desperately needs  EMOTICONS.

Other than that,  I am good with the  current  website.

I shall  leave technology  changes to the  professionals.

@jan-2 - I just adjusted the font color from a mostly dark to completely black. I think it makes a little difference. Also, note that you can increase the font size there in the toolbar above. The default font is 11 pts, but you can make that larger which will also make the apparent color darker (this is 12 pt).

Jerry--for some reason your comment above about autosaving made me think about being logged in and being logged off.  Most forums I belong to automatically log you off after X minutes of inactivity.  On our current forum, I'm always surprised to discover I'm still logged in even if I go away for hours (having of course forgotten to log off.)  Does this new forum software incorporate an "auto-logoff" function?

Edit one minute later -- I timed it to see how long it took to post that simple text post with no images.  Answer-5 seconds.

Edit another minute later -- after I saved the above edit, it posted in 5 seconds but this time with a message that said "Awaiting moderation".  Wondering if that's a glitch.

You may have missed or forgotten about the post I made on Dec 28 after I did a survey of the forum users. Joe N commented about having to log in all the time so I did some research and implemented some code that extended the login time to a year. Here is that post:

https://sidecar.com/forum/topic/survey-result-extended-session-time/

Also, this software has a moderation queue which I saw your two posts in. I am not sure of the parameters but I remember reading that new subscribers will have their posts held in moderation until they have posted 3 times. But you are not a new subscriber so I'm not sure what is going there yet.

[Edit] The basic moderation rule is to hold posts until new users have posted 3 times. But I also created some new usergroups but I did not know how to set the various permissions for new usersgroups, so moderation was a permission. I have changed that now so you shouldn't have your posts held.

Here's an oddity.  As I am typing, the screen and text will freeze for about two seconds.  It has happened three times in typing this sentence.  VERY DISCONCERTING!!!!!

I have not heard of that before. Could there be something running locally that is taking your CPU? Can you run the task manager and watch for disk- or network activity?

@webmaster Suddenly it is VERY slow responding.  It seems like it may be tied to autosave which activates WAY TOO OFTEN!

MS Office just finished it's auto update.  The wretched process occurs in the background and hogs resources so.....after a restart and it's completion, things are working.

Sometimes I really HATE Mocrosucks.

Thane brings up a good point.  If USCA decides to move forward and change over, it might be a good idea to remind people that their personal settings, and programs can affect their ability to read and post.  Every now and then the malware program on this laptop will create an issue.  I tend to research the three fingers pointing back at me before addressing that outstretched pointing finger when issues come up.  Has saved me much embarrassment.  😉

32MB max file posting size is a great surprise!  Not sure I can keep the crank spinning long enough on this "jack-in-the-box" laptop to post that big a file.

Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

Well said, Scott. I'm not sure where the 32mb came from. In the settings I see 20mb.
