Anyone from West Coast going to Hotchkiss, Colorado, for the USCA National... and would like to travel along with someone else? I plan to leave my home at Lake Tahoe the morning of July 5th (might consider leaving on July 4th), and use Hy 50 almost all the way, probably use motels (?); will be equipped to camp though.

Hope you still have the coon tail hat so you'll stand out in the crowd...

I've still got all three of the hats. I haven't decided whether or not to bring any of them to Hotchkiss.
I will bring my 12 volt margarita/daiquiri mixer...I think.
I'm not camping this year...my first time ever using a motel....maybe my last. 🙂

I've got reservations at the Hotchkiss Inn. Just called them yesterday and moved my arrival date to the 7th. Original plan had been to arrive on the 6th. That won't happen now.

I will be at the same place, the Hotchkiss Inn. So will Al Olme....he's the one that talked me into using a motel....first time, ever.
My room reservation is also for the 7th.
I am seriously considering moving my departure day to July 4th rather than the 5th; to reduce my daily mileage;.....as I expect hot weather on the way, and don't much like how I feel with long saddle times during weather over 85 or so. As it is I need to average over 300 miles a day. I've even thought of riding very early and in the evening.

It was 104F in Hotchkiss yesterday. Motel room will be nice.

Have owned 5 rigs but Rig #2 is my current one!

I'm hoping it will cool off to even below the average for July, which is 90F

Definitely will be leaving July 4th, probably mid-morning. Finalized my route, it WILL be Hy 50 nearly all the way. Will be a combination of motels and camping. I may arrive in Hotchkiss on the 6th.....motel is reserved for 7th....so, might camp out, or? on 6th.
