I want to have a convertible top made for my escort sidecar. I don’t know if the bow was made of fiberglass or metal. Also, I’m hoping that the OEM bow was made to break down into pieces to fit in the car. If anyone has a description (or better yet pictures) I’d really appreciate the help.

The one I have the bow comes apart. You might want to check out a boat yard they might be able to help you or point you in the right direction.

While Champion no longer makes this sidecar. They might still be able to help you with parts Champion Sidecars & Reverse Gears for Harley Motor Trike

The bows were made of steel to break in half, they had a hinged forward support.  If Champion cannot help you the least expensive way to do this would be to find another member on this forum who has a top, borrow it to copy. Ideally their top would be in poor shape so that it could be taken apart to make a pattern then two (or more) tops made.  Most upholstery shops could do this for you. We could also as well as fabrication, powder coating and upholstery are done in house as such all we lack is a pattern to copy.

We do have an Escort here however it has no top that we could make sure a new top fit. FYI the sidecar is for sale $5000 needs total refurbishment however we will supply it with new bike specific mounting hardware. We also have a used escort body $1500

For us to do it, $900. Without the bows which you already have $600. If we are doing more than one you can reduce the price by $100 You would have to install the snaps yourself to get a taught fit as if we put them in the exact place, they currently are the fit might not be ideal. And the top you provide as a pattern will be taken apart a part and kept as a pattern.

This would be using the fabrics we already stock and buy by the bolt rather than the yard. Special material would be extra.

Also, as half my staff (of 2) in upholstery is off for a while due to shingles it could take us a month or so to do.
