Will this tire work? Friendship III Sidecar tire
I am looking for a replacement tire for my California Friendship III. I come to find out the OEM tire (Dunlop SP 20 Metric - 145R13) is a discontinued european tire. But I did find this one on the Coker site:
http://store.cokertire.com/145r13-vredestein-sprint.html
The Dunlop is listed with a load index of 74 and a speed rating S. The Coker says a load rating of 827lbs @ 32 PSI. Nothing about a speed rating. I don't know much about tires, but will this work? Tried looking for a 145/80R13, but am not having much luck on that tire either
Another option. It appears they are both rated the same load index as the original. The firestone is rated up to 44 PSI, the first only to 32PSI

The Firestone will work.
You're probably only going to use about 28PSI (or less) with the FSIII unless you like a very bouncy ride.

Sweet! Will get that ordered. Thanks man!
Can you buy it at local tire shop? It is regular auto tire.
So far, not that I have found. I've got a buddy who manages a tire shop doing some checking for me...but Coker is the only place so far that I have found it.

???My Cal 3 has a Goodyear Eagle 165/70/R13 on it.
Last year I installed a Federal Super Steel 657 size 145/80R-13 75T All Season with a max load rating of 38kg/835 pounds. So far it has worked just fine but I have only put about 4,000 miles on it with no noticeable wear. It is on a 1990 GL1500SE Goldwing/Friendship III.
I wonder if it has different rims mike? My tire guy says he can get a 155/80R13....just not a 145. Can anyone tell me why that wouldn't work? Looks like it would be about half the price of the firestone thru Coker.
If it fits the hole without scraping the only difference will be the frame height of the sidecar. With tilt no adjustments will be needed.

I may be wrong, but I think the tire will be wider, but the same height?
just checked...the dunlop is 22.1" in diameter and the 155/80R13 is 22.75" in diameter. I think it should clear. Mikes 165/70R13 is the same height as the stock dunlop, but a bit wider than the dunnie
On my Champion Escort, I couldn't find a 145 so put on a 155. After about 2,000 miles I happened to look on the inside and there was a quarter inch groove in the tire from the shock mount. I took it off and found that the spare tire off my tent trailer was the same bolt pattern so I used that and with the tilt was able to level things out alright. I found a one-quarter inch spacer and put it behind the wheel and it has worked ok except it worries me not having the lug nuts more than half way on. I have checked it often and they never loosened up. I will be shopping for a 145 x 13 this year.

Well, the 155 is getting mounted as we speak. Guess we'll see if it clears alright!

I pulled mine off last night to check for rubbing. There is none, but I saw that it has a single washer on each stud, behind the tire. Just normal, maybe 1/8 inch thick ones.
