I don't remember seeing any washers behind my wheel. Hmmmm...wonder how much wider a 165/70/R13 is? Guess we'll find out! Is to safe to use washer as spacers on a wheel?

I don't see a problem with one that fits properly. I wouldn't stack them. I'm beginning to doubt that mine is the original rim on this thing. It doesn't look like others I've seen.

I'm planning on replacing it at some point. This one looks too much like a Ford. 🙂

SidecarMike..........My rim looks the same as yours. I have an early Friendship III with the dome snaps on the windshield for the convertible cover and the short brake/tail light.

My top slides in to a channel and I have the big taillight. Mine is a 1996 model. The PO bought it new. My son says he said something about having changed the wheel, but I don't remember hearing that.

I think with the wider tire and taller, I was running the tilt pretty low and then with a passenger it rubbed more than usual. Later, after I got a new 155 on and put on the spacer, I re-leveled the whole rig according to the height of the taller tire. The Champion and F-3 may not be similar as far as clearance.

that's the same wheel I have on my CF1 car, Sidecar Mike..I run a motomaster (canadian tire brand) 155/60/13 on it as the 145 factory tire was worn out when I got it,..after 4 seasons and 20 000 miles I replaced it as the inside of the tread was showing some wear $39.95 was a fair price I figured for 4 seasons use,..hehe crawf.

Well, it isn't back on the ground yet, but I threw the tim back on with new tire, and it seems to clear everything alright. Hope so! This tire was only $40 and I know it hasn't been sitting on a shelf for 10 years

Ralph,

Longer Cragar style lug nuts are available. I use 2 hub spacers with a 155/80R13 tire to clear the swingarm and 2 washers on each of the long lug nuts.

How much clearance do I need between the swingarm and tire? I can get my finger tip between the two in the air. Not sure how much bulge (if any) the tire will have when on the ground. I should've checked that before mounting the new tire, but it slipped my mind. Also, what PSI does everyone recommend on the sidecar tire? If all goes well, I should have the rig back together in time for 50 degrees on saturday!!

The Firestone will work.
You're probably only going to use about 28PSI (or less) with the FSIII unless you like a very bouncy ride.

Lonnie.

Just re-read and saw where Hack'n recommended 28 PSI. Will give that a go first and see how the ride is

I use the tire pressure to assist with suspension work like I did on my old hard tail chopper,..hack rubber runs at about 10psi, and the darksider BFG on the bike runs about 12-15psi,..sidewall and bead are more then enough to support my 700lb rig,..it was designed to support a 4000lb car,..I found the ride far too harsh at the recommended pressures especially with a 40lb child in the hack,..unit is very stable with little to no flex under hard highway cornering,..I tend to "throttle drift" the unit frequently when I ride with the sport bike buddies,..some of us never grow up,..hehe good luck crawf.

That was the only place my tire guy could get that exact size also. But the alternative he set me up with works just fine
