Kawasaki Concours:
They have been around since 1986 Lonnie and the 2008 model is kinda cool but don't worry,,, some day you'll see one 🙂

That's OK, I don't see trikes either.

The VMax has been around longer but I can count on one hand how many I've seen on the road.

I've got 50k+ with the Unit legs in the rear holes, axle forward, less trail position without a problem with the Units. I did break the front dauntless subframe during this time so the rig has done some slamming and jamming and I expect the forks would have failed if inclined to do so. This is on a bmw r100, your results may vary.

No doibt Todd. I am just saying what Unit said. Barry (threewheelsuk)did ask them also. Dunno if different front ends are different or not from Unit bu ttheir response was across the board. Doesn't make sense to me but what do I know 🙂

Then there's the Vincent front fork. It has a cam adjuster with two positions: one for solo, one for sidecar (reduces trail). My Rapide had a sidecar before I bought it but I never saw the car. The bike still has the mountings.

As far as I know the /2 and earlier BMW's with Earles forks were supposed to be set axle-forward for sidecars. Don't know about other makes.

Question: My '78 KZ650 with Velorex 562 handle beautifully with stock forks setup, except for tapered-roller steering head bearings. There's that outfit in Canada (I forget the name) that can modify the triple tree to reduce trail. Does anyone remember their name? Might wobble be a new problem after reducing trail?

That would be "Side Effects" in Kamloops, BC.

FYI:
Side Effects IS Peter Smith
As far as a wobble coming in after trail is reduced there is alway sa possiblity of this. Anytime trail is modified a wobble can come or even go away. We can discuss this till the cows come home but the final result will only be totally known after an individual rig is modified.

Side Effects did my triple tree, great work and Pete is a very knowledgeable and pleasant guy to deal with, I got very fast service and the workmanship was excellent, I think that any modified unit will wobble at some point, mostly at low speed but I have never found it to be a problem at all, the handling of the unit far out weighs any problem from wobble that *might* occur.
