Last Summer on a very hot 200 mile trip, I told my wife that I would get an AC built and installed on the California Friendship 3 car so she could travel in comfort. Well, that time has come --- I bought an aux heating unit ( coil and blower) from Heater Craft and now have it in the car. The piping from the trunk to the unit has been run but has not been hooked up on to the cooler yet.

While looking at everything today trying to figure out my next move, I got to thinking about the weight of the ice/water and also the aux battery I want to install. We are looking at mounting some 60 pounds of stuff. I had been planning of seting the cooler and battery in the left side of the trunk but I have been told that extra weight should be on the outside edge of the car.

So what do you guys think? Does the cooler/battery combo really need to be on the outside edge or would it be ok on the inside edge -- there is a foot+ difference between the inside/outside position.

For a right side mounted sidecar, the farther outboard the ballast weigh, the more stable the rig in right hand corners. Physics 101.

If you have rider and 1 co-rider in sidecar I don't think it will make a lot of difference.

Thanks guys-- right side mount it shall be, maybe! I just ordered a new cooler that is 11.75 inches at its widest point -- trunk opening is 11.5 inches -- maybe a little heat and grease will let it in.

Or, as one of my buddies calls it: Brute force and ignorance. Sealed

I know about heat as I live in middle Georgia but good think it is not me as I would have to tell her to deal with it or stay home.

Yesterday I looked at one of those pans...I just think about my brother in law a few years back, for sure he had bad times when he came back shortly before easter from his bar route he started Christmas ...
No, I have the last word home."Yes, my darling".
=> At least until the rig will be runing again, then I might sneek out before dawn with the dogs in the sidecar.
