Wax
OK I have my rig running good now to make it look good. What wax do you use and why. I would like something I can use on both the bike and sidecar. Oh and it would be nice if it did not take forever to do.
Thanks
Having been indocrinated in my youth to the "if it's easy it's no good" school of automotive waxes coupled with many years of Army barrack floor finishing I used nothing but good 'ol Johnson's Paste Wax forever. I gained enlightenment a few years back and after many trails I use McGuires on my Shadow. Goes on easy and buffs out nicely.
There's probably better out there and I'm kinda' lookin' forward to hearing from others.
I've just started using REJEX. It's a polymer that goes on easy and must be cured out of direct sunlight for 12 hours. It has made my black rig even blacker. It was originally made for aircraft and marine application.
I've washed the rig a number of times and bugs come right off. I like it.
Supposedly it's at True Value stores but I had to get it online.
Look it up at www.corrosionx.com. The usual disclaimers, blah, blah, etc.

I was called to have a rat's complex:In winter hot wax or bitumen on rims spokes and everything that may rust.In the spring often it will not come down easy and with a power washer the paint might come off. But at least the rust kept down.Later as old helper hand in a weapon shop.... Balistol weapon oil for paint, crome, plastic, rubber, leather, mechanims or what ever needs some shine or oil.By the way Balistol is an invention from 1905! Will work for wounds, animals with rubbed skin and hundreds of other uses too.Still nothing better arround.Sven Peter Pan
Wax is for sissies!
If it can't be fixed with WD40 or Bag Balm, Fageddaboudit! LOL
Lonnie

Be carefull with WD40!!!!That stuff is one of the worst industry lies I have had in my hand for many years:WD40 turns into recine and gums up after some 3 weeks. For example in pneumatic valves 3 weeks after an aplication you will surely have the valve siezed up worse then before...A few times more and you have t throw the valve into the junk. The same effect I have seen on many other fine industrial equipment.Simple 3 in one or other sewing machie oil is much more efective and safer. Sewing machine oil is designed not to produce recine.WD40 is produced to give mechanics more work!!!!For each application I have my special recieps, if interested I will list them after coffee.Sven Peter Pan
Wow! I thought that WD40 and duct tape were the apple pie of the technical world. LOL.
I don't care what anyone says WD-40 helps my arthritis better than any OTC remedy I've tried. Really...
and don't get me started on BagBalm! Gotta love that stuff too!

A few tips from an on site service engineer:The one for everything oil!!: BALISTOL from Klever in Germany //Penetrant: any ISO10 sewing machine oil (i use Esso Spinesso 10)(3 in 1 is good) // assembly paste and antisieze: Chesterton 785! excellent on zink base. They have another one on copper base too (710 ?) //tubeing sealant even good for gasoline, pneumatics, hydraulics up to 10.000PSI, plastic tubeing, steam, even food industry applications: Laco Slictite teflon paste but the purple one! (Forget Loctite PST that sucks and is dangerous (melts PVC!) //eliminate scars on anything + sharpening: Mold polishing stones on boride base grain #800 or higher // screw setting, Locktite 242 BLUE ,(!!!Green or red only if you whant to take everything apart allways with a acetylene torch => you will break the screw heads. (remember a job where 800 of 1200 bolts broke their heads=> have fun redrill, retap, makeing those threads)) //Rubber: foot talkum // silicones on metal: red or better like grey and copper,=> blue or transparent will produce vinegar at cureing that corrodes everything ...Excuse me but I have to prepare a wage and delivery note. Later more.Sven Peter Pan
