Hello, I am almost a sidecar operator and hoping to find a competent installer near Houston. I had a local bike shop down here do the work and it turned into a nightmare thats dragged for a couple of months. I know about Marcus up in Lufkin, but thats a long haul for me and hoping to find someone closer.
Any help would greatly appreciated.

Steve

Is your rig already mounted and only needs adjust, or it's in parts and some things must be fabricated? In first case you can try to do it yourself or with small help from neighboh. It's your car on the photo? This long threaded shaft in front lower mount doesn't look good?

Hey thanks for the quick reply. Yes, the bike shop down here did not follow Bob's install instructions. The struts need to be rearranged and sidecar will be closer to bike.

Give us more photos. If it's properly installed (good parts in good points), it needs only some adjustments that you probably can make within an hour, so you will not need towing your rig to someone who can adjust a rig. It's somewhat simple if done with patience.

If you want to do it your self we would be glad to help via email or over the phone provided that the bike is not to large of a bike for the sidecar, Can not tell in the photo's just what bike it is.

Jay, doesn't this lower front mount look odd to you? You have seen many better or worse installs in your life, so you can "feel" if it has chance to be proper mount.

All I can see is the part coming from the sidecar. This is the way Velorex does things. The only adjustment for wheel lead is where you place the "universal" frame clamp which is why almost every Velorex sidecar we see has the wheel lead wrong. Also it looks like the brake has not been hooked up which I think is just plain stupid to have a brake and not have it hooked up.

Yep, did not hook up brake. Bike is bonnie T100 with DMC trees (thanks Jay)basically shortest strut needs to go on bottom rear. Then others rearranged and sidecar aligned. My problem bad lower back and not much for tools and no one to help with it . Off to work now

Thanks

Steve

I'm thinking of this long screw from bike to front j-connector, if it isn't too thin. Velorexes I saw, had original screw much thicker and some shorter, not 2-3 inches between bike and connector (universal versions) or specific Jawa j-connector that reaches bike's frame and is mounted just to frame by its "eyes" with almost vertical screw.

We make a lower rear mount that bolts to both sides of the frame. Not sure if this will help or not.

Thanks but not looking to buy parts, just looking for Competent installer around Houston. The place I took the rig to initially is listed as a Velroex installer at the Velroex website. I only found out later that they've never actually installed one, ever.

Thanks for the help,

Steve

Often the problem is that the "Velorex" universal mounts seldom work proper. Velorex will pretty much let any one be a dealer as far as I can tell. I have had customers when they found out that there was not a dealer in the area being asked if they wanted to become the dealer.
Attached you will find out basic installation instructions.
