I just bought a 562 and am in the process of mounting it on a KLR.

Everything is going pretty smoothly, but I'm a bit hesitant about removal of the hub cap, which needs to be done before putting on the new tire.
It looks like it just snaps off, but it's plastic and I'd like to be sure before I start prying on it and break it. I checked the Velorex handbook and it doesn't mention wheel removal.

Not a very technical question, but one must start somewhere. Later I'll try to ask something harder. 🙂

Thanks,
Jeff

There are three tabs that snap into the groove in the hub. Just pry it off.

Great, thanks.
I got the rig mounted this evening with the help of a friend and rode it up and down my street.
Dang, it's different!! Fun, though.
It's pretty flyable with no weight in it, so I'll get an inner tube full of sand in it tomorrow and go practice right turns, etc. Surely needs some body weight thrown around in right turns when empty!
It's my first side car, so the learning curve will be steep, I reckon.
Woohoo!

Ride safe, Jeff......PRACTICE in an abandoned parking lot before hitting the open road! 🙂

I have been fiddling with the lean out on the bike, so left turns aren't the wrestling match they were.
I did go to the SFA big lot today and did right turns till the wheel came up.
I found it will stay up without too much effort, although it is not my favorite riding mode.
More practice will help me guage entry speed in right turns(as well as lefties) so I don't look so terrified!
Maybe that look will keep the cagers more polite.

The alignment needs a bit of tweaking, but it's pretty close, now.

More fun this weekend.

... More practice ... so I don't look so terrified!....

Where's the camera we we need it!?! Should've seen Jena's face when she did a 90*+ spin-out when she locked the brakes in a panic stop during Marcus' S/TEP course. Ballast sure helps when learning -- I started with 75lbs minimum in my Sportster rig -- dropping down to 25lbs permanent ballast after a few thousand miles.

...The alignment needs a bit of tweaking, but it's pretty close, now....
Fine tuning the alignment can take few attempts -- can only 1 adjustment at a time to help isolate the best results.

....More fun this weekend.

I suspect the fun will last long beyond this weekend.

Jeff, it runs down cold my neck that You did the match for which purpose I bought my KLR for....I see the KLR way too tall and way too soft suspension for to match her with the very low and extremely lightweight Velorex.
As we live in steep (better said very steep) high mountain range I am equiping my Jawa with a Husquarna MC 450 engine and keep the KLR as solo.
Check if you have still only the 15mm axle.

Plastic hub? Mine must be somewhere up in a mountain mud track.
Do not ride without ballast and GO SLOW INTO A BEND and with time you might start to come out fast. but You enter a bend fast and you will be done.
The dangerous moment comes when you start to feel confident, then in some moment you will react as a solo driver. completely opposit of what you will need to.
(I had in April the comparable case. I reacted in between 2 deep sewer openings as a rig pusher on the Solo KLR...uffffhhh)
What I am interested in is, how hard do you have to pull on the handle bars?
Sven
