I have seen some Velorex with 12 inch (?) trailer wheels. How is that done? Hmmm, maybe a standard 1" axel is machined to replace the 20mm? Could it be that easy--- and safe? If this is all true, boy, I would like to buy one!

I am getting a 562.

Regards,
Bruce

Dunno about all of them but there are some on the road that have converted to a regular torsion type trailer axle assembly stuck under the sidecar frame. Kind of a slick arrangement. You will see these at places like Tractor Supply.

You won't need that much beef for the Helix, Bruce.

Bruce,
Should have mentioned this earlier as there are many options out there. One of the cleanest conversions is offered by Doug Bingham at SideStrider. It includes a bolt on beefed up swingarm, 1" spindle and a heavier Progressive Suspension shock. It uses a 12" wheel with a five bolt center.
Go to sidestrider.com and you will find the details. CALL SIDESTRIDER AT: (818) 780-1587

I also have a bolt on HD suspension conversion available for the earlier 15mm Velorexs. (The 20mm axle ones don't need beefing up nearly as bad).
A little different design than Doug's but the same basic principle.
