Velorex 565 access hood hinge...?

We have the Velo 565 with the hinged access hood with the windshield attached and the hinge is missing part of the assembly.

This is the way it was when we bought the rig, never had the entire set up. When Sue gets in and out of the car I hold the hood up so as not to allow the windshield to rest on the from of the tub, scratching both.
Just for effect I hold my hand out for her to keep her balance too, looks gentlemanly in public but I do that regardless, just for the record, I also open her door when getting into the car, always have, probably should not stop now... I have not been married for thirty-seven years by accident... Well, maybe... 🙂

Anyway... I do have the plate that would make up part of this hinge assembly however, I do not have whatever it is that it would anchor to on the hood...

I suspect that the PO took it off or just cut it off for whatever reason.

I would like to have this feature back on the rig.

I do have the "Velorex Sidecar Handbook with Exploded views and Parts List for all Velorex Models" but that does not list the parts required or give me a hint of the hinge assembly.

Any help is appreciated.

Best,
Rob

Many folks remove the strut that holds the windshield open since it limits the available opening and makes the sidecar harder to enter and exit. It is a cartridge type strut like the ones used on many hatchback compact cars.

Got ya... I really would not to loose that access either, good point.

Well cool, I'll just grind the remnants of the other mount and we'll just keep doing what we're doing then.

Thanks Lonnie,

Rob

Can you mount a strap from the body to the windshield to keep the windshield from going too far forward?

Yeah, maybe two equally spaced. I like that.
