Hello. I have a Velorex 562 mounted to my Suzuki Boulevard and wanted to know:
1) How do I adjust the suspension on the sidecar for a softer ride?
2) What is the difficulty level for hooking up the sidecar brake?
Thanks.

If it is a 562 Cruiser 2004 or later car it should have an adjustable shock. They are already set on the softest setting.
If not, grease the adjuster ramps before adjusting and take the weight off the sidecar suspension. The aluminum adjusters are prone to crack unless well lubricated.
Tighter suspension will allow less bottoming out in left turns and make for a more rigid, better handling setup.

Trying to set up a mechanical drum brake to work well with hydraulic disc brakes is an exercise in futility. It can be set up for a parking brake or drag brake.

The factory Gespann rigs use the same drum, shoes and mechanical brake setup on all three wheels.

Hi Lonnie,
It's a 2009 562 on a 2008 Suzuki Boulevard. I bought the setup 2 years ago from the original owner (2100 miles!) and have been driving it around the DC/MD/VA area since. The PO bought the sidecar after his wife became ill and consequently moved to a trike setup because of her illness progressing.
Last summer I removed the sidecar so I do a clutch job (@4200 miles) and it was at that point I noticed the brake was not connected. The Boulevard does have a mechanical rear brake and I'd like to connect it. Was curious to what parts I need.
Secondly, the suspension. I noticed the adjustment on the undercarriage but did not simply want to change it w/o knowing what to do first. Where can I get a manual for that? I assumed (I know, bad idea) the car was set to the tightest setting b/c my wife has said the ride is a bit rough. How can I determine how mine is set since the PO had it installed?
Thanks for your time.
Tom
EDIT: The installation papers read 562 but it looks like a 563 b/c of the lights on the fender and the step on the side.

The 563 has a chrome bumper, luggage rack and handgrip. Also a wider fender, a 130x90x16" tire on a wide wheel and triple tube frame instead of the single tube perimeter frame of the 562 models. They have a 3.50x 16" Mitas tire.
The shock adjuster has a ramp adjustment like most bike shocks. The lowest ramp setting is the softest. I use a large channel lock plier with the jaws softened with duct tape for adjusting them. There is no manual.

Tom,

I have a 562 and 2006 C50 T. I connected the sidecar brake to the brake rod of the bike just behind the pedal. The cars cable arrangement has a hook at the end that fits neatly on the retainer/slide of the bikes pedal shaft. Seems to work well for me, and does provide sidecar braking.

Tom,

Attached are a couple of pics showing the hook on the end of the brake cable, and the point on the brake shaft where I had the cars cable connected. Pencil tip shows the post on the side of the bikes brake shaft, located under the foot peg. I just slip the hook over the post and use a clamp on the cable and it stays connected.

Had to wait until I removed the car to get the pics.

Going to sell the car. Went for a short trip today and when we returned my wife could hardly get out of the car. Arthritis, degenerative disk, and who knows what else.
