using a caravan mover as a reverse.
Has anyone got any information on using a caravan mover as a reverse on either the side car wheel or the bike?
Just thinking of returning to a hack again after many years solo and a trike but now far to 'mature' to have the power to push a complete outfit out of a difficult situation. I also don't want to have to go down the road of a Goldwing or BMW LT. as I prefer a more naked bike.
I have found a number of units that just may cover what I need but would be interested in learning if any others have gone down that road.
Have not been able to find a USA distributor for the caravan movers....but. great idea for sure. We have done reverse setups using a winch motor and they do work.
I found one US distributor:
I had trouble internet searching for this device due to the different meanings of "caravan" between American English and English English.
Looks like not only caravan mover need to be install but at least 85Ah battery too.
I might be alone on this but doesn't this seem like overkill? Claude's starter motor friction drive, as it was fitted on Sarge's "Monster", was more simple, a fraction of the price and didn't require an upgraded electrical system. It really seems like we should be thinking about appropriate technology.
We have done many different reverse set ups, years ago we tried a "caravan" mover, this one had a ball on it, lifted the front of the caravan (trailer in the USA) and moved it. The problem was that it is WAY TO SLOW!
