Twinmax question
Anyone ever see a decent video clip about the use of a Twinmax? All I ever seem to find is how to use a carb stick or such. Myself, I never found a decent clip of the use of a Twinmax and just wondered if anyone else ever did so. IMZ has a very pporly done video maintenance clip of the use of a Twinmax, that leaves more unanswered than answered. At least they do have something though. Wonder why there are not any specific clips on YouTube and such sites in the carb sync areas?
If you know of such a video clip being posted, please share the link.
I have one Pat but haven't used it yet it's NIB with instructions, what is it you want to know and I'll look and see what they have to say about it.
Actually, I don't particularly need anything specific from a video clip, but I find it interesting that they don't seem to be available. I have seen multiple posts with questions over the last few years and was surprised that they don't have video clips on the YouTube site or other video sites. Some folk do better with a video than a written paper to learn from, so it would be nice to have such in my collection of motorcycle maintenance stuff.
I put together a file with pics and all the instructions quite a while back, but never learned enough about compressing the file to be able to send to anyone via email when completed. The instructions on the actual Twinmax machine face are very, very skimpy and the IMZ maintenance clip is virtually useless in some ways. Example: It does not even mention having the engine warmed up prior to attempting to adjust the carbs. If one (a newby) didn't know that is necessary, they could well be in for a bad time in making the correct adjustments on the carbs. Much is left out on the IMZ maintenance clip, although it was at least nice to see what IMZ had in their series on servicing the Ural.
I have a Twinmax (New In Box) with instructions as well, but was hoping to latch onto a video clip at some location. I'd like to make an actual Twinmax video clip in the furure, but my camera set up is not good enough for such.

I don't own a Twinmax - I use a Carbtune (steel slide rotameter based design) which I am quite happy with, but the Twinmax should be quite usable for you, especially if you have a 2-cylinder bike. The Twinmax is basically just a differential pressure transducer and some amplifier circuitry, so it will show you differences in pressure/vacuum between the inputs. If you have just 2 carbs, hook them up to each side and go for it.
You will not be able to see actually mm Hg measurements with it - the goal is to adjust one carb or the other until you get the needle as close to the center "0" difference point as possible.
If you have 3 or more carbs, you have to use one as the "reference" and take turns adjusting the other carbs to it. The accuracy of the instrument is greatly affected by battery voltage as all the earlier ones I know of had no significant voltage regulation to speak of, so be sure that you have a good/fresh battery in there before you start.
The twin max is very very sensitive and when they say to center the needel they mean it but the nice part is that when the needle is bouncing back and forth you can just de-tune it with the Sensitivity knob untill you see which side is more open and then work it untill the sensitivity knob is at max or darn close to it,,I like mine but for multi's I use a manometer, a real one with mercury.

I got it but it wont be untill tonight that I will down load it, i'm on dial up and it said that it's going to take 11 min to down load 🙁
Didn't know you were on dialup, sorry. You should have seen me when I made the thing and tried to convert it all to a pdf file and then figure out how to send it at all. Mega bites and such are beyond me. If you download and reveiw, let me know about it.
