Hi all. New guy here. I have a 2003 Road King Classic with 2003 TLE sidecar. I would like to find a rebuild kit for the FTE caliper on the sidecar. I only need the seals, don't need the pistons. Does anyone know where I can get these other than HD?
Thanks

There are a lot of Harley caliper rebuild kits for sale on ebay, but not sure you will find what you need. Just curious, why don't you want to go to the dealer or an online dealer? If you know what kind of material the seals are, you might be able to find them at some fluid power place like Pirtek.

The caliper rebuild kits are no longer available from HD. Unbelievable !!
This is an FTE caliper. Any suggestions are appreciated. I will Google Pirtek. Thanks

I googled the part number 44243-98 which should be the kit you're looking for. The only thing that came up that looked promising was Latus Harley Davidson, they had a note that it was a special order item but it seems like they might still be able to get it. There are a few places I've looked for old sidecar parts, Toms NOS Parts, Jan Willem Boon in the Netherlands, and Rob's Used Harley parts. Maybe one of them has a NOS rebuild kit. I searched eBay for FTE caliper and there are a lot of items there. Looks like FTE supplied German automakers. If there is an FTE part number on the caliper maybe you could find it at a VW parts shop or some other auto supply outfit. (I have a 96 sidecar with drum brake and I found a new wheel cylinder at NAPA.) Good luck.

Yep, that's the part number for the rebuild kit. I called the parts guy at Latus HD, he was very helpful, BTW....but he said that kit has been discontinued just as five or six other dealers have told me. I asked if there was a replacement of any kind or a cross reference number....No. Any HD dealer can check inventory of every other dealer but apparently this kit is now extinct. I've Googled FTE and a bunch of brake parts businesses but no luck, so far. I'm thinking there has to be a parts cross reference number somewhere. Ebay was about the second place I looked and Amazon. I'll try your suggestions and keep on lookin'.
Thanks

I would think that caliper is used on something else besides, I doubt they'd have only made that caliper just for the sidecar . If there is a way to track that down somehow.

Yep, that's my thought, also. I've googled everything I can think of and e-mailed the manufacturer....FTE...in Germany but they didn't reply.
Thanks

There is an FTE Automotive near Detroit, they may have supplied Harley out of that office. You might make some progress with a phone call to them 248-377-6999. They may be more helpful than the home office, or maybe not.

I've only just seen this thread, as I was looking for the same kit for a customer. If you go back to your dealership and tell them to look at Vintage parts website (unfortunately Dealership only, they will not sell to the public) they have a limited supply. I bought one on 5/27/15. hope this helps get you back up and running
